RE: Porn Filters
This is extremely grim news, after the politicians have had their field day by making you opt in to adult material it will then no doubt be regulated just in exactly the same way that the tv channels are currently being done just now in which they'll use the same argument that they do for the telly. Kids might be able to access porn because of a handful of irresponsible guardians/parents who perhaps haven't bother to have the safe family filter on.

This to me will increase activity in the black market, for example I remember watching Banged Up Abroad not to long ago about the single bloke who also just so happened to be gay which is punishable by death in Saudia Arabia being able to access porn and that was with the help of an illegal programme which can be downloaded onto your computer which will stop all government filters.

Also another interesting debate is what material will be deemed as porn, I mean where does that leave all the artistic/nude drawing or photography sites, pardon the pun but will they be tarnished with the same paint brush.

What about this site, could the government deem such websites as this as a threat, I mean Cameron stated that he would also apply measures to block what he deemed dangerous websites. This one is harmless but don't be fooled into thinking the politicians think the same way.

Just how the hell did we ever allow this to happen. This country has now turned from a democracy into a Dictatorship. We need to stand up to this. We need to plan an organised demonstration. We need to also start up a new petition to block this measure. Time is running out. David Cameron is well above his station and has no right in meddling with our lifes in such a personal manner. This is an attack on our freedoms.

I will 100% be voting yes for Scottish Independence. I feel sorry for the English who are stuck with this prick Cameron until at least 2015. No wonder a lot of Scot's are desperate to break away. We've got nothing to gain from living in such a backward society. Sorry to say it but the English politicans have well and truly made the UK a censored and fucked up nation. What an insult. This is truly disgraceful.

Indeed. This is all just BS, Cameron pandering to the middle England curtain twitchers, the Daily Mail brigade. Besides, any mildly tech savvy kid is going to be able to circumvent this filter within minutes. Look how well the block on TPB turned out, still freely accessable to anyone with the ability to navigate to Google and type "access piratebay uk".

I don't have kids, doesn't affect me so why should I have my internet connection gimped by default? If the blocking filters are going to be there, they should be off by default, should be up to the parents to opt in to the block to 'protect' their kids. F*** off, Cameron.

a rare time me and you are in agreement mido. as you say all you have to do to get the filters turned off is tell your internet provider which doesn't cost anything and also agree unless you have something to hide there is no real reason to get worked up about it

pretty sure ive read today that this porn filter will only affect new broadband/internet connections soon. some internet providers though already have this filter in place for new internet connections (talk talk were on skynews today saying they already put this filter on for new internet accounts) people who already have broadband/internet will instead get a prompt saying do you want the filter turned on and this wont be happening until 2014

RE: Porn Filters
No it's not just a case of let's unblock this no problems asked. This is only the start. I see something sinister in all of this. It's about control.

Incase some of you are in any doubt we already have the capibilty to choose whether or not we wish to put on any kind of family filter.

Mr Cameron, fuck off and stop trying to parent the country, you are meddling in matters which is of no concern to you. Well done so you also have kids, that's good to know (like anybody gives a fuck) Cool

Mr Cameron be Prime Minister and run the country. Mr Cameron when you are at home then be a parent, keep it this way and never should the 2 collide.

Also opinion should never ever be passed off as government policy.

Fact - We get good and bad parents, it's a fact of life. Anyway if kids wish to find pornography or drink booze or smoke cigarettes they will always find a way.

Today is the day when the UK officially became a nanny state. Thanks to all those who voted this prick into office as you were duped big style Cool

Ok, off the soapbox for a minute, you have the option to opt in, you havent been deprived of porn, you are therefore in complete control of if you wish to receive it

Yes, the functionality has not changed, however it will default to "on" rather than "off". Rolleyes

Because we are being asked as adults to make an informed decision as to if we want to be supplied porn on the internet? (wasnt this the theme of the petition last year that you were all raving about?Wink) as i mentioned earlier, if you want to see porn, ask to have it turned on, where is the issue?
as for being "duped big style" - considering the state the country was in before the coalition took over, being able to choose to have porn available on my internet wasnt the deciding factor in who most people voted for, nor will it be at the next election

Yep Talktalk asked me when I signed with them a little while ago, theres no surcharge they just ask if you want to turn it on or off, its off, and i can visit porn, it was barely an experience let alone a game changing one!.

mobile phones already do this, I cannot access this site via my O2 mobile, i could if I wanted just make them a payment on a credit card which they use to verify you are 18+ and would then deduct from my next bill. but i just cant really be bothered as its been off for almost 18 months

RE: Porn Filters
Just how gullible and ignorant are some of you lot. Yes that's right you can keep kidding yourself's on that the ultimate intention of the government isn't to regulate porn in the same way that ofcom does.

Fast forward to a few years from now when you won't be able to even access proper porn because like I said Cameron and Clegg will use the bullshit excuse or better still ofcom will have full control over the interent which includes what can and cannot be viewed and once play the kid might see it card.

It's not very honourable to have to read through such smug comments, it offers the forum very little.

PS - Whats the deal with the ofcom avator Mido, is it supposed to be humourous or something Cool

I was the same with my mobile. im on o2 as well and to get on this site from my mobile I had to go to an o2 shop with id that proved I was over 18 and the filter was turned off and I could go on this site from my o2 mobile

this porn filter is only like going to the cinema and showing your id so you can watch films rated 12, 15, 18. nothing more sinister than that
