What rep system would you prefer?

Ok reading through this thread below there is clearly different opinions on what way they would like/hope the rep system to be. So, I thought it would a useful to set up this thread and get a deeper insight into what rep system you would like/hope to see.

There are four options, I have given

1. Get rid of the rep system

2. Keep it as it is

3. Keep the positive reps and get rid of the negative and neutral reps

4. On the fence

This is not a public poll and you can if you wish post what you voted for. I voted for number 1 to get rid of the rep system, because although I agree its a nice gesture to get a rep, but I believe its the only to stop some people from being motivated to create multiple accounts.

I hope a lot vote in this poll to get a clear insight and I respect a members decision on which ever category they vote for

dan, you do realize that people creating duplicate accounts just to rep themselves is almost non existent. any suspicious or unusual activity is checked behind the scenes and dealt with appropriately. but it really doesn't happen very often if at all.

Ok, maybe its doesn't happen regularly, but I say it does happen maybe not widespread, but I feel there is an odd folk around that may do it. I know ye mods do everything ye can to keep the forum in shape and make sure everything runs smoothly. But, I just think it is necessary or helpful to get rid of the rep system because of the threat or potential threat of people wanting to create multiple accounts, so that they can rep themselves

You do realise that last year we had a poll to stop unnecessary polls.

Ok fair enough, just thought it would be a useful thread, as there appeared to be different ideas on how they would want a rep system to work. Number 2 is strongly leading the way, so thats the way a good majority of the forum want it to be

Replace reps with a system of reach-arounds & problem solved! - no one will ever have an opinion about a fellow forum member again.

Ok, so nobody really likes polls but at least Dan's making an effort to try and improve the forum.

It doesn't really matter whether accounts are being created just to give reps or not. As far as I'm concerned they can rep away to their hearts content, I couldn't give a toss.

I voted to scrap the neg and neutral reps because I think tit for tat neg repping just perpetuates arguments that would've died a natural death otherwise. While neg reps have their place if used correctly too many people just use them to hurl abuse at other members.

im on the fence because i dont think it matters IMO, i rep someone who i think deserves it but if someone has 100 reps or 10 reps it dont really matter, it doesnt mean fuck all its just a number.

Keep the positives, loose the negatives and neutrals.

I find it hard to think of valid reasons for negative reps - you dont like something someone says, but so what? Negative repping wont stop them being an idiot.

And neutral?

There are a huge number of banned accounts, not sure whats going on the there, could be nutters, insecure twats who want to boost their own fragile egos, or automatically generated accounts for viagra adverts. Either way theres a lot.

Whats reacharound?

BTW deleting reps from people who get banned is an idea someone convinced me of.

Now the important stuff. Can we have a rep system for babes and articles of clothing? Even better, the least repped article gets removed?
