RE: formula 1 change
what do people think of what went on today with ferrari. i think it was a blatant use of team orders which isnt allowed under current rules and yet theyve only got away with a fine. but they could face further sanctions and i hope they get thrown out of the race

The $100K fine is the maximum "on the spot" fine the Stewards can apply. As the Stewards clearly believe there is evidence for a Disrepute charge they have to refer it to the World Motorsport Council, who can find Ferarri not Guilty, or find them Guilty then choose from a range of punishments including points removal, race suspensions/bans, financial penalties or if serious enough, expulsion from the Constructors & Drivers Championships.

As a matter of interest, when McLaren were hit with their $100 million fine, they were also accused of bringing the sport into disrepute....

IF the WMSC call an extraordinary meeting to look at this, Ferrari are in deep trouble IMO. They usually only meet a few times a year.

For what it's worth, i believe the FIA should throw the book at them. Team orders exist, we all know that. But Ferarri have blatantly ignored the rule, which was brought about by their own actions with Schumacher & Barrichello in 2002.

Yeah, like thats going to happen.Alonso will cry, throw his toys out his pram and threaten not to complete the the next page of his colouring in book before mummy puts him to bed and the FIA won't let that happen.

I said "should". I never suggested they actually would.

I think team orders exist in every race. If the FIA throw the book at Ferrari then I think Ferrari lawyers will dig up examples of team orders from other teams in other races which have gone unpunished.

Sod team orders. A race is everyone trying to win. Start telling drivers to accept second best and it isnt a genuine race from that point on.annoyedannoyed

They'd have a hard time proving it unless the team in question was as blatant as Ferrari were on Sunday.

Most teams have the sesne to sort these things out in private before the race and call it "fuel saving" or something similar. Rob Smedley's Radio message to Massa was clearly intended as a dig at the team management and his subsequent apology made it even more obvious.

With any other team the result of the WMSC hearing would be a foregone conclusion. With Ferrari, anything is possible. They'll probably hit McLaren with a ban for it Wink

McLaren will certainly be hoping that Ferrari don't get thrown out of the race, otherwise they will lose ground to Red Bull.

It's being reported that an investment company called Exor and a media group called News Corporation are planning the takeover of F1 ruling body.

F1's commercial rights are currently held by venture capital firm CVC who bought them in 2006 for £1.8billion.

Does this mean that the end of Chief executive Bernie Ecclestone?

it will not happen because it would break 2 rules on the conrode agreement. one that states f1 needs to be shown on free to air tv where possible. sky is not free to air tv. the other one is onwers are not allowed to have control over f1, exor part owns fiat which in turn part owns ferrari f1.

also cvc does not wont to sell. according the bernie and bbc.
