Woolwich Attack
I must point out that this a news story that I find very hard to talk about or discuss. I think as UK citizens and Europeans we all have exactly same thoughts which run through our minds when we hear about an attack like this.
"Surely not, this is something that only ever happens in very distant countries" This is not to say that we are not saddened each time we hear about an attack like this being carried out elsewhere, it's just that we have become used to reading about this happening elsewhere in the less civilised Countries which has somehow made us hard shelled. Saddened but not shocked.
At the moment within the UK we have mass hysteria, we have people talking about an imminent civil war about to take place. This story has well and truly divided the Country.
Walking the streets of the UK has never been something that has filled us with any dread and especially not at 2PM in the afternoon. As I have said elsewhere in the forum, this is an attack so evil that my mind fails to comprehend it. As one of the reporters on the news put it the other day. The day Baghdad style violence came to London.
Make no mistake about it, this is a very grim thing and what sickens me most about it all is the manner in which the murder was carried out.
Your thoughts on this story.

RE: Woolwich Attack
As I said elsewhere on this forum, the thing that really shocked me was the fact that the news channels decided to not only show the face of the killer but also the video which he made.
What a truly horrific sight it was to see him with bloody hands and on the other hand holding a machete, I found this image completely inapprorpiate and disrespectful to the victim and his family.
Wednesday was a very dark day and will forever be remembered as the day that the UK changed forever. This story will forever haunt me. I also think it has seriously damaged the reputation of London. My heart goes out to all those effected.
I also find it rather ironic that on the other side of the world we have ex pat Lindsey Sandiford awaiting execution for drug smuggling in indonesia and in this country we have an evil criminal who will recieve a much lessor sentence.
