RE: The End of the Road
^^^ How many babe channels are there? A handful.
How many porn sites are there? Friggin billions!!
OK, that's a an exaggeration, but there's a heck of a lot. Fact is, the babeshows offer something very few porn sites offer, the opportunity to speak directly to the model.
Would such a thing work as a web only entity? I'm not so sure. There's only really SexStation doing it at the moment in the UK. If it's such a sure thing, why only them doing it? Thing is, the tv shows give the companies coverage across the UK, they get their number into every home in the land, something which the internet won'd even do if when the new porn filtering comes into operation at the ISP's.
However tough it may be under Ofcoms beady eye, it's still a more hospitable environment, with greater coverage, and less competition, than the internet.

Let's face it, many of the channels websites leave much to be desired in terms of content at present, much of it barely qualifies as 'hardcore', and many of the channels attempts at offering webcam shows are amateurish at best, so the idea that they can move online and maintain a profitable business seems like pie in the sky to me, the tv cannels are a fundamental part of their business model.

I agree with what you say munch regarding the babe channels all migrating to the web. It's an absolute non-starter for the reasons you outline.

However, technology is changing rapidly and the distinction between internet and broadcast TV is blurring. Indeed, the internet is becoming just another medium on which to broadcast TV programming.

These broadcasts are increasingly available on TVs through the use of dedicated apps - you download and install an app (eg Babe Station) and it's then available as if it was just another TV channel.

Therefore there may be another window of babe channel mayhem akin to the early 2000s, because broadcasts via the internet are less subject to Ofcom regulation.

Regarding Babe Channels migrating to the web Studio66 seems to be concentrating on promoting its online web shows on here more than its TV shows lately, I've found from looking at their posts

RE: The End of the Road
I think a way of partly countering the OFCOM impact on our 'beloved channels' (as I see it) is through the full transition to a web-based delivery platform. At the moment most of the channels 'dual-illuminate' both TV and web.

Going back to my favorite ever babe show period, late 2k9 to late 2k10, Tease TV started using extra cameras in the studio and some of the web broadcasts got 'better angles' so to speak. They were getting a bit more inventive.

Lets be honest there will always be some groups that will complain about TV content. So maybe using much higher definition streams, FTTC is becoming widespread, (viewable on HD-TV) and moving off Sky is a part fix.

Agreed its a part defeat but comparing that to what we currently have I know which one I would take.

Its long long time to think outside of the box in any case...

Thanks

Shylok

RE: The End of the Road
Good post by Shylok, now correct me if I'm wrong but like Shylok eluded to, we did have something like this a few yrs back? now I don't no who were doing it, but I can remember Lori buckby on the mic saying if you want to continue watching so on and so on channel number such and such, but if you want to see harder action with another babe go on to our website where you can see harder content. Now I do remember this, and I thought this way of doing it was bloody brilliantSmile
So if they could do it then, why not do it now? I mean I used to watch on the tv, but if i wanted to see harder content then I use there web channels instead!! It's quite simple really. For example say Dannii harwood was on playboy one night, then as she picked up the mic and said if you want to see Lucy summers full frontal naked on our web channel then go to www. etc etc well you no what I would do hehe.
The key to going back to this is the web access now whether you would have to pay to gain access, well thats down to the individual channels, however I feel this can be done, giving the public 2 choices whether to watch either the free to air channels, or to switch to the web based channels, it's been done in the past, lets bring it back and give it another try.

Agree with what you say up to a point.

That being,I am sure a channel got a warning or something from Ofcom for advertising a web stream on free to air.

Seems like in this country one can not advertise porn channels (like you couldn`t go on line and find them anyway, with a few clicks) bladewave

Yeah there are strict rules on advertising so called 'hard' material on the babe channels.

I think the webshows needs to run as an independent service to avoid any OFCOM hassle.

I'm guessing that to date its not been cost effective due to lack of take up online but that will change as technology advances (the stream bit-rates the babe channels use needs to increase quite a bit too $$$). It needs someone to take the plunge properly though. Sexstation seems to be doing alright and that's with mostly 'B List' talent...

Interesting times.

RE: The End of the Road
My question is: what do we do now?

Ok lets look at this: At this moment in time Ofcom aren't going anywhere for the foreseeable future which is a great shame for us all. So what can the Adult channels do? Well in my opinion i feel a lot boils down to the producers themselves, and what i mean by that is we need producers that will look at the current rules and push the boundaries without overstepping the mark.
This is where we find the inconsistencies night after night, which is a problem that needs to be addressed!! How often do we see comments on this forum praising one night and then slagging the channels of the next.

Look Ofcom hold all the cards we all no this, however the producers of these shows can still get a lot more out of these shows then they're getting now. I fully understand that quite a few of the models don't like to go fully nude and i understand that, however those models who want to push the boundaries need help from there assigned producers for there night shows.

It's no good having a model like Jennifer Jade for example who wants to get naked, yet she has some producer who won't say boo to a goose, this isn't going to work at all!!

In my opinion, the producers of these shows have to step up to the plate big time, and if they can do that night after night, then i do tend to feel the current shows will be a lot lot better!

RE: The End of the Road
why are producers going to risk massive fines for freeloaders entertainment?
has it not occurred that the stations could end up out of business if issued with a substantial fine and then you would have no FREE wank shows at all.
I stand by my point this is free, you arent paying for it so you get what your given
