Internet Porn Site Regulation

It will be ridiculous if you have to verify your ID on EVERY adult site that you visit, as so many people will simply not want to do it. The suggestion of some central database where you can verify your ID for any and all purposes is surely the way to do this.

Who would regulate such a database ? I like the idea in principal but I would be concerned about who held all that information.

Just ripe for some civil servant to leave it on his laptop on some routemaster.

Well the US tried this many years ago, but got rid of it because it was unconstitutional

What information would they hold though? Surely it would only be your name and address.

nope they want your name address, banking details and your electoral register information.
the latter contains the names of all family members in the household, there ages and sex. it would literally be an invasion of your's and there privacy which is guaranteed under eu law.
under both freedom of expression/speech and there data protection laws. the fact is the eu laws are actually stronger in a lot of ways than the American 1s as they are part of an international human rights act. so while mr camoron thinks he can get away with his tyrannical invasive censorship measures, he may well find his acts (not laws) fall flat when they are tested in court.
