I visited Belem and Manaus years ago on a trip along the Amazon. That was in July. Believe me the humidity and heat bears no relation to the warm summers we are sometimes lucky to see over here. I think Fernandez is the expert on this subject somehow Smile

You seem confused. London's highest humidity is usually in the months of November and December. London is most humid around 21 November, exceeding 93% for 3 days out of 4.

Over the course of a year the average humidity in Sao Paulo is 78.4%, compared to 79.6% in London.

Just as a quick check, here's the humidity today at 13:00 GMT (25 minutes ago): Sao Paulo 65% humidity, London 71%.

But isn't the World Cup being held in June? It is not just the humidity but the pervasive heat. I can only go off one visit to Brazil in my life but I'm guessing the weather was par for the course. When I was there albeit 20 odd years ago, the Amazon encroached on most things and added greatly to the humidity. Fresh shirts were soaked in a matter of minutes from any form of exertion...like breathing. Have to say I've never seen that in London in November...unless you count a dodgy banker who is unsure he is going to get his his over-inflated bonus in time for Christmas Smile
Anyway, fact is doesn't matter where England play, the team simply cannot compete against the world's best teams over the course of a tournament.

But wouldn't it help our cause a lot better having got that game first out of the way? Not only that it would be nice for once, if the press this time doesn't build up our hopes too much and just let fate takes it course over the course of the tournament.

The point I was answering was babelover48's statement that "the humidity will be the same for both teams in that game and I think Suarez will not be easy to stop in those conditions". Although he only mentions humidity I can see that he may have been referring to the heat as well.

As regards the World Cup being held in June, the average humidity in Sao Paulo is slightly less in June than the annual average there.

It isn't Summertime in June in Brazil, is it? Sure it's in the southern hemisphere so that shouldn't be so bad.

The temperature in Sao Paulo:

February is the hottest month. June and July are the coldest months - London is slightly hotter at that time of year.

Seriously, nobody cares, I was born in Sao Paulo, I don't need to read you're pointless numbers to know what the weather is like, why do you always get the need to talk in percentages and try and correct people? over the course of a year a 1.2% difference wouldn't even be noticeable anyway....

And Babelover is right in what he says, the weather will be the same for both teams when they play, Humid or not. Even if the climate was the same as the UK England would still struggle regardless...

Is it also at altitude as well Fernandez? How high about sea level is Manaus? I doubt if any game in Miami that is likely to be pencilled in before the competition will even be enough to fully prepare us for what we could potentially face there. I also think this ne competition where we possibly could see an African team go further than we expect to go too and Suarez will probably be the top scorer.

Manaus is 92m above sea level. Not as high as some stadiums in the Premier League, such as West Bromwich Albion (168m) and Stoke City (132m)
