Euro 2016 France - Qualifying

The draw for the qualification groups for the 2016 Euros take place at 11am today.

The teams are split between pots as follows :

Pot 1: Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, England, Portugal, Greece, Russia, Bosnia-Hercegovina.
Pot 2: Ukraine, Croatia, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Ireland.
Pot 3: Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Israel, Norway, Slovakia, Romania, Austria, Poland.
Pot 4: Montenegro, Armenia, Scotland, Finland, Latvia, Wales, Bulgaria, Estonia, Belarus.
Pot 5: Iceland, Northern Ireland, Albania, Lithuania, Moldova, FYR Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Cyprus.
Pot 6: Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Faroe Islands, Malta, Andorra, San Marino, Gibraltar.


To ensure a place at Euro 2016, nations must finish in the top two in their group. The best third-placed finisher also qualifies before the remaining eight third-placed teams go into the play-offs in November 2015.
The qualification period runs from 7 September 2014 until 13 October 2015. The play-offs will be held over two legs in November, with the draw for the main tournament being held on 12 December 2015. It all gets under way in France on 10 June 2016.

Seriously though, England will have no worries with that. Wales at last have, on paper at least, a good chance of third place and a playoff. Realistically, Ireland and Scotland are fighting each other for the third place behind Germany and Poland.

England have a kind draw and should be comfortable as long as there is no complacency.
Wales should be pleased with their draw too.
Scotland and Republic of Ireland have a tough one but I think one of the two of them will get at least third place
Northern Ireland have a decent draw so should feel happy with their lot.

i think you'll find poland and scotland will be playing for third place! the cheek!

I did say 'at least' .
After all we all know Gibraltar will be favourites .

Why do you say that? In the current FIFA rankings Ireland and Scotland are both placed higher than Poland.
