Doping Allegations

I'm shocked to hear that the central doping body in athletics has a whistle blower who has leaked 12,000 test results that stretch back over a decade or more and has shown that some Olympic and World Champions had won with 'supsicious' levels and 10 medallists won golds with the suspcious levels at London 2012.

IMO questions must be raised at the IAAF in allowing this and they are like FIFA, not being a fit organisation to run a sport globally.

Yeah but apparently Jessica Ennis and Mo Farrah were clean which is good news Especially for Mo Farrah what with all the shit thrown up from the salazzar allegations

There's a good chance that Sebastian Coe will be elected as the new IAAF president soon, you would hope he would take this seriously.

I very much hope Sebastian (Lord) Coe does win the Presidency because if he doesn't, athletics probably can no longer be viewed as a 'clean' sport.

I agree, it is good news that both Jess and Mo are clean, but if there are any British athletes with suspicious tests then I guess in time we will find out their identities.

Whoever passed the test must now be wondering how big a can of worms they have opened by leaking the results to the paper, but at the same I applaud for doing so because we probably would never know this information.

Does anyone seriously think that some top athlete's dont take drugs, and managed to mask them? Drugs and corruption are rife in sport, money talks, the public will be very lucky to learn the truth

I've reached a point where I now interpret 'so-and-so was clean' as: 'so-and-so hasn't been caught yet'.

What I don't get is that there are 'legitimate' drugs which are allowed.
If an athlete/footballer or whatever, needs a pain killing injection to be able to compete, then that injection is clearly enhancing the performance, but that is OK because that drug doesn't appear on the banned list.
If you need a drug to compete, even a 'legal' one, then you shouldn't be competing, your body is telling you not to go out there, take it's advice and wait until you are healed.

That said, those caught cheating need to be banned for life, this 2 or 3 year ban is nonsense and sends the message that its worth the risk, especially for a younger athlete who could serve a ban and still come back for a good career after. I think quite a few of the guys in the tour de france this year had previously been caught doping.

Nothing new the fact that athletes are taking performance enhancing substances.
Lasse Viren in the 70s was rumoured to be a blood doper. Just did not get caught. The fact is, Testing is of a Higher standard these days. All three medalist in the 88 Soul Olympics 100m final have all subsequently been caught.
I remember an athlete called Solomon was kicked out of the commonwealth games in 1986 for taking a pick me up called 'up Your gas' which was found to contain banned substances. He claimed it was used to get rid of his cold. As someone said at the time he knew what he was doing it was called up your gas not get rid of your cold.

What is unnerving is the fact that one of the alleged disgraced athletes is either Kelly Holmes or Paula Radcliffe. I wish the authority's would divulge the culprit otherwise one of them could be unfairly tainted with the blood doping scandal.
