i know for instance we use a company called Sophos to provide antivirus software at the trust i work for

would love to know how much people are paying to get their files back.. also how much worse would it be than the hacks of recent years like Talk Talk for example?

It depends on your definition of "over".

Some Hospitals will have hundreds, if not thousands of Desktops & Laptops that will either need to be fully restored or patched. That's not the sort of thing a dozen people in the IT Dept can do in a couple of days.

It seems that it was Windows 7, not XP, that was most affected.

I have always said, poeple are relying way to much on internet and clouds, even back up hdd copies.

Nothing like physical pen and paper as well.
