Who likes going running/jogging then?
I've been a keen jogger since the beginning of March last year. Joined a gym and had a phobia of the treadmill, just cos I found it so incredibly difficult... and boring.

So to conquer this phobia, I spent more and more time on it. Within a month I'd upped my mileage to 3 miles per workout, before even touching the free weights and became a cardio junkie. I used to run a half marathon every single weekend on my own by mid-May.

Entered a local 10k run for charity (6.2miles) and finished up in position 66 out of 347. 43mins and 8 seconds. Not bad to say i was a nervous wreck as I'd never jogged with anyone else, let alone competed. £350 raised for the Elderly and disabled in my town, a good day's work Smile

laid off training for personal reasons over the Christmas period, but the past 10 days, I've been doing 3 mile sprints in a flat street circuit around my neighbourhood (about 23 mins per run) in all weathers - Like The Perfect Storm movie some days -and today, I ran 2 1/2 miles to the nearest running club to join up, only to discover there was some big inter-club run happening elsewhere, so I ended up taking my 9 yr old nephew for a jog instead before heading home at 10pm- and now I'm fooked, lol.

Anyone got any good tips for jogging or do you need any advice, such as how to fuel up for a run before hand or the best type of footwear ect?
I'm gonna be doing more charity runs this year and hopefully, the London Marathon next year too Wink

Yeah, that's why I usually run quite slowly, being very careful stepping on/off curbs so as to minimise the chances of aching joints in the future.
Asics Gel Cushion trainers are terrific for absorbing impact.
Shop around and you'll generally get a good pair for £35 or less. JJB Sports are quite cheap these days.
I've only been sprinting lately as preparation for keepng up with the more experience hard core runners at the running club. Didn't want to embarrass myself by dragging behind Wink

Le Maître de votre Domaine indique...

I really need to start using my treadmill again, I'm getting chunky.

Dah Master Says: So long and thanks for all the fish!

Wait a sec... You never gave me any fish! Lousy cheapskates!

Note: That remark wasn't aimed at you, Skateguy.

I box at amateur level, so have to have to do lot's of running, mostly on the street if I can help it, treadmills are boring as fuck.

I go to the gym four times a week, but mostly do weight work, ranging from quite heavy, to high rep... focusing mostly on definition.

Most CV is boring, I find sparring, punch-bag work, or skipping to be the most enjoyable forms.

My brother ran the marathon a few years ago, and said it was the worst thing he has ever done lol.

Alesha Dixon is my new pretend girlfriend lol

RE: Who likes going running/jogging then?
It's a long held principle of mine to never break into a run unless being chased.

I studied Sanda and Aikido when I was younger and still do the forms twice a day. That covers me for CV work, plus 30 minute sessions of sit ups and press ups a couple of times a week, along with the long walks around the countryside near where I live keeps me as conditioned as I need to be.

I treat running the same way I treat the dentist. An ocassionally necessary evil, which is not to be engaged in unless strictly required. I see the attraction for others, but find the whole thing too monotonous to do it myself... Also, the police where I live remember me from my teenaged years; if they see me running, a pavlovian reaction kicks in and they give chaseTongue

I hate running or jogging, its like football but without the best bits. Big Grin

But i can see how people can get into it though and fair play to them because it is very tough.

I can walk for miles very happily as long as I've either got my ipod or my golf clubs. Jogging hurts my knees unfortunately.

I don't know where you magic pixies came from, but I like your pixie drink!
