Every team has played now, with the USA-Thailand match completing the first round and the favourites in winning 10 of the 12 matches. The second round of matches starts today, with England and Scotland both in action on Friday.

After the thumping Thailand got, I got to wondering who they had managed to beat to qualify for the tournament in the first place. Looking back to matches they played last year, they beat Cambodia 11-0, Malaysia 8-0 and Timor-Leste 8-0. I can't imagine what the score would be if USA played Cambodia.
However, they did also beat Australia in the final of another tournament. Hard to explain.

It's not that hard to explain. Thailand are just a much better team than the 13-0 scoreline suggests.

In 1989/90 Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 9-0 in the league, but lost to them 4-3 in the FA Cup semi-final. That's football for you.
