a question about emulation
what does anyone use to play emulated games on pc?

the keyboard works quite well on nes games but not so well on more modern games. i am thinking of downloading some of my old n64 games and would like to be able to play them again.

RE: a question about emulation
I use a cheapo (six quid, brand new) logic3 pad, laid out almost exactly like a PS joypad and it works out champion for me. I use ePSXe for PS1 games, mame for old arcade games and fusion for megadrive games, as well as DOSbox for oler PC games. Most of them have a calibration option for joypads, so pick a joypad that feels comfortable and assign the buttons according to preference.

RE: a question about emulation
I just use a generic p.c controller and configure the buttons accordingly. This site has N64 roms and 2 emulators http://www.freeroms.com/n64.htm. *torrent sites are easier to get full rom sets*Wink
Im not sure what the best current emulator is though ?as its been i while since i played N64 games on my p.c,as i now use Project 64 on a softmodded xbox to play them.

And now he's home... and we're laughing...like we always did...

RE: a question about emulation
Before I got a PC, I had an AtariST. This can be emulated on a PC with the STEem Engine at
http://tamw.atari-users.net/steem.htm
I used this successfully a few years ago and tranferred some of my games to it.
This was on a computer running Win98, not sure if it works in WinXP though.
I have also used DOSbox in linux ok for DOS games.
I use the wine emulator in linux for my various Windows chess programs.

I'll second this.

firekind Wrote:lol. i know how to download them. playing them is a different matter

Project 64 is easy to use:

1) Download/install Project 64
2) Make an easy to find folder and call it "Roms"
3) Download the Rom of the game that you want to play and save it to the "Roms" folder
4) Start Project 64
5) Select File-->Choose Rom Directory
6) Find your "Roms" folder and open it
7) Your Roms in that folder should appear on the main Project 64 screen, double click to play them.

GAME OVER YEEEEAAAAAAAH!

RE: a question about emulation
Yep. There's a loads of sites with different roms available on them. Rom hustler and Rom nation have quite a few, along with countless others. Just remember that Americans knew the megadrive as the Sega Genesis. The American roms work just as well as the european ones, although I wouldn't recommend the Japanese roms, unless you read the languagelaugh Fusion requires a little set-up, but youtube has videos showing you how to do it. The same thing applies for pretty much all of the major emulators.
