RE: RUSSELL BRAND & JONATHON ROSS
Breaking news...Russell has resigned. Got this from Digital Spy,
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Russell Brand has announced that he is resigning from his Radio 2 show.

The star had been suspended by BBC bosses following prank phone calls made by him and Jonathan Ross to former Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

Brand earlier made a public apology to Sachs, claiming that he took "complete responsibility" for the stunt and that he was "caught up in the moment".

"I'm sorry that I have upset Mr Sachs," he told reporters outside his London home.

Ross has also apologised for his behaviour, saying in a statement: "I am deeply sorry and greatly regret the upset and distress that my juvenile and thoughtless remarks on the Russell Brand show have caused."

He said he had waited until now to release a statement because he planned to apologise on his chatshow Friday Night With Jonathan Ross.

He added: "However, it was a stupid error of judgement on my part and I offer a full apology."

Sachs has said that he is "not surprised" by the BBC's decision to suspend the presenters.

RE: RUSSELL BRAND & JONATHON ROSS
The whole thing was blown completely out of proportions, and all the furore cause by the Associated Newspapers (eg Murdochs right wing lot).
Apology End of. Very simple
But a witch hunt had to ensue, disgraceful journalism from the Mail of course, and we have a half wit government, and even worse tory party prodding it just to get out of their own problems (Osbourne, Mandelson fiasco).
Even worse that Russell had to fall own his own sword, because the BBC where unable to handle the situation. Not only that Lesley Douglus, one of the most brilliant controllers BBC had the privilege to meet says that she will walk if any of her production staff are fired, the women who resurrected radio 2.
Dark times when stupid mail writers and readers cause a corporation to loose one of Britons finest comedians. The world has more serious problems at the moment don't you think?
Owe had on a side note, the young 'innocent' lady in question, sold her story to the Sun, and hired Max Clifford as her PR agent, hmm will she be appearing on the front of zoo, or nuts soon?

RE: RUSSELL BRAND & JONATHON ROSS
Here's something from Georgina Baillie, Digital Spy,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Andrew Sachs's granddaughter Georgina Baillie has said that Russell Brand is a "disappointment" in the bedroom.

Baillie, who is a member of burlesque group the Satanic Sluts, said the comedian spent a large amount of time mimicking Sachs's Fawlty Towers character Manuel during their time together.

According to the 23-year-old, Brand kept repeating the lines "I know nothing", "Qué?" and "I learn it from a booook".

She told The Sun: "The fact my grandfather was Andrew Sachs clearly tickled Russell. But I never thought he'd use it to cause such a lot of damage.

"He seemed obsessed by the idea that he was close to Manuel's granddaughter. It was only a coincidence that he found out because Fawlty Towers came on his telly when we were together.

"But if I had known then what I know now I never would have told him. In fact I would have never have gone near him."

She confessed that she slept with Brand three times, including on their first date.

Speaking about his bedroom, Baillie said: "It was every bit as lavish as you'd expect from a professional dandy like him and made me feel like I was on the set of a movie.

"I'm not going to go into detail about what happened there although I'm obviously no shrinking violet. I will only say he's a disappointment in the bedroom considering he has had so much practice."

Baillie previously complained that Brand had "embarrassed" her by going public about their relationship.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All I can say is, if your going to cause trouble by sobbing to the press and then turn round and sell a story, (to try to make money from it), shame on you. I felt and do feel sorry for Manuel,(as he is an old fella), but he should be ashamed of his grandaughter for seeking 'fame' from his humiliation!

RE: RUSSELL BRAND & JONATHON ROSS
Good post Sarah!

What really gets me about it is that yesterday 160 people died in an earthquake over in Pakistan, we've got an economic crisis effecting people across the UK and yet THIS is top of the news agenda. Surely there's something wrong with that?

Over 30,000 people have complained to the beeb about it but I'd bet that not 5% of those people actually heard the proagramme.

It was JUST two comedians who crossed the line and went too far with a silly joke. They apologised for it and the guy accepted the apology. That should be an end to it but we just can't resist a good witch-hunt in this country.

Grrrr... anyway, glad I've got that off my chest! Thank you!

RE: RUSSELL BRAND & JONATHON ROSS
First, allow me to climb up onto my pedestal here.

Russell Brand is a talentless c u n t of the highest order, an even bigger waste of sperm than some of those twats of Big Brother, (and he must be fucking stupid as well as I seem to remember him getting into trouble previously for making another crank call to either the police or fire service etc a while ago). I honestly don't see what people find funny about him. I'm glad he has effectively been fired from Radio 2, my only regret is that it was'nt out of some sort of cannon.

Jonathan Ross used to be a very funny man, but now sadly seems to go for a tactlessly crude approach to humour (and yes, I am aware of the irony that I am criticizing some one for being crude, when I have just branded someone a cunt) or worse still becomes an arse kissing yes man. Hopefully this will wake him up and he will revert back to more of the sort of humour he produced on they think it's all over. I hear he has just been suspended for 3 months without pay, not really much of a punishment in my opinion as I am sure he does'nt really need the money and now he gets Christmas off work.

As for the incident it was a nasty and stupid thing to do to an old man and if it had been done by two normal people on the street they would probably have been charged by now. Personally, I feel the entire thing has been blown a bit out of proportion (especially to have politicians getting involved in it now) but anything that can come close to resulting in the public lynching of Russell Brand can only be a good thing in my opinion.

Anyway thats my two cents for what its worth.

The right to bear arms is slightly less ludicrous than the right to arm bears
