I feel I must say I do like said Sunday Brunch show, though I daresay there was no attempt at overlap or reference, which is a lost opportunity. I did see some of the Closing Ceremony.

Hornball your bias against the BBC has seemingly affected your faculties. If you spent a bit less time moaning and a more time investigating how the BBC are inclusive towards disabilities you might have noticed the following :-

Ade Adepitan is on BBC frequently. He presents a travel show and did a documentary about Africa if I recall correctly

JJ Chalmers who was in Tokyo for Channel 4 at the Paralympics & was the live tv host for the overnight coverage of the Olympics on BBC1. That’s when most of the events took place.

Frank Gardener is not only the BBC’s Security correspondent but has also been in documentaries about how he was injured and his passion for bird watching.

At least 3 Paralympians have appeared on Strictly Come Dancing

Nikki Fox is the BBC’s disability correspondent and also presents Watchdog. She is an award winning journalist and in 2020 was named most influential disabled person in the UK in the Shaw Trust Power 100 list.

All these are known to me as an able bodied person and all I looked up was Nikki Fox to see what else she had done.

You are welcome to your opinion but when you ignore facts it diminishes your views

In fairness (!) hornball was talking about BBC coverage of disabled sports, which don't include Watchdog, Strictly or Ade Adepitan on Africa. That said, the BBC have only just started seriously covering women's sports, so maybe they'll get around to disabled sports by the end of the decade.

Mere window dressing!! Presenters representing the disability community (in a minimalist way) does nothing for the programme output overall!! They themselves happen to be disabled but they aren't presenting disability to the audience with the content which is what counts!!

Maybe secret you could express your disagreement with opinions expressed in a less patronising and intolerant manner?? Last time I looked, the BBC was an organisation that warranted constant scrutiny as a publicly funded entity!! If that is bias god help us all!

That is exactly the point!! All while demanding millions from the very audience they are not representing!!

Mmm perhaps you didn't notice that the TV coverage was on Channel 4 which is not publicly funded but gets it's income form advertising. My point was that in relation to the BBC and those presenters that also work for them (by the way they are clearly not full time BBC employees or they would not have worked for Channel 4) that they are professional broadcasters who quite rightly on the basis of ability have worked on a number of shows. In a competitive market for talent I have no issue with what any of them earn. Personally I do not see their disabilities when they work - I see their professionalism.

When it comes to broadcasting rights of disability sport I don't know what the rights available are so maybe that is what you could concentrate on and direct your ire at Channel 4 who own the Paralympic rights as well as all other broadcasters who are invisible in this market.

...

Strangely enough, I did notice just that, and that is the point!! It is a public service genre - the paralympics - so would it not be reasonable to expect a PSB that is wholly funded through a compulsory fee, to be the one's charged with covering it?? Instead the millions that is given to the BBC by disabled fee payers (we are not exempt) and there is ZERO programming directed at that audience! This is not hard to understand - it really isn't!

The presenters mentioned may be able to work on different shows/channels, but while they are paid by the public purse (it is a tax in the true meaning) while at the BBC, they should be duty bound to properly represent the entire audience (available but NOT watching) As there are no programmes - in sport since that is the topic -aimed at that significant audience, and those presenters are NOT even taking as much as the question back to the BBC as to why not, those individuals are failing to represent those that directly pay their wage for the period they work for us.

I know C4 is self funded. That again is the point!! They deserve great credit for taking the paralympics (although serves to highlight the rubbish the rest of the time). If they are going to be the ones to cover true PSB output, then they should be able to dip in to the licence pot to assist them. Particularly if the BBC is to be allowed to absolve itself from such responsibility and instead follow a (clearly stated) policy of populist output, for which they should not receive a 'red cent'

RE: Paralympics 2020(1)
Seriously? The BBC does not have a remit from HM Government to spend our License Fees on everything. In fact successive governments have constrained the BBC with below inflation increases in License fees and lumbering the BBC with free TV licenses for the elderly - a purely political act which the BBC has now reduced. Staff on contract to the BBC will be governed by those contracts about what the can speak out upon so it's unfair to accuse them in the way you do. You also have no knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes.

Channel 4 is Government owned but not subsidised by them. They will have won the tender to show the Paralympics and may for all I know have outbid the BBC. The Government is contemplating selling them which may well damage their commitment to the Paralympics under a new owner and indeed many other exemplary things that they do (I exclude any reality shows in this comment as they are crap whoever does them!)

Have you ever written to the BBC and asked them about their views on showing disabled sport including the Paralympics. If so please share the response you got. If not then perhaps you should as it may help your case.

Yes I have Secret and you get dismissed with what is almost an auto message produced at the press of a button. They can do a bit of everything, and they should!! It is called prioritise! They are not required to do so, but about time they were!! We will not meet any minds on this, butt I haven't changed my views and am unlikely too

By the way, the govt doesn't own the C4 - we do - They did out bid the bbc secret, but we don't even know how serious was the bbc bid do we. But we do know in certain other areas - which largely do not need the platform of a subsidised PSB - that they spent much more than they bid - of OUR money!!
