RE: Tour de France
On a separate note Chris Froome has now been officially declared the winner of the 2011 La Vuelta after Juan Jose Cobo was disqualified for drug taking.

That gives Froome his 7th Grand Tour win and actually makes him the first British Grand Tour winner as Bradley Wiggins won the Tour de France in 2012

World time trial champion Rohan Dennis' decision to abandon the Tour de France with no explanation is "confusing" and "disappointing", say Bahrain-Merida.

This is an odd story, but it does increase Geraint's chances in the time-trial tomorrow. Could be back to back Brits after Simon Yates won today's stage.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that a Doctor caught in possession of AICAR in 2012 also happens to live in Bahrain.

I didn't watch todays stage. The winner was Brit Simon Yates for Mitchelton - Scott.
Both Thomas and Alaphilippe finished in the peloton.

Most of the excitement was in the first couple of hours as various riders tried to establish the break but the GC teams in the peloton kept hauling them back as they controlled who would be allowed in the break. Sagan made sure he was in it so he could compete for the intermediate sprint points on offer before the 2 mountain climbs which we won and then dropped back. The break eventually had 40 riders in it and none of then were GC threats.

It was an easy day for the GC contenders - so much so that Ineos had Luke Rowe at the front of the peloton all day whereas usually he does all the donkey work as Road Captain before trailing in at the back.

Rowe’s relationship with Thomas goes back to when they were young boys starting out. The trust between them is immense.

Seems it was an argument over Bahrain-Merida not allowing him to wear the latest skinsuit he wanted for the timetrial

What a climax to the TT!

Allaphillipe is the new cycling superstar make no mistake. Geraint gave it his all but was then immediately blown off the road by Allaphillipe.

This is a humdinger of a Tour.
