recording and editing footage - HOTSKY - 25-08-2009 20:52 Hi can anyone tell me how to edit recorded footage. The file format is VOB and I am finding it hard to find software that will allow me to edit and cut the files down .People have constantly uploaded video footage on posts from their dvd recordings and I just wanted to do the same cheers peeps! RE: recording and editing footage - skateguy - 25-08-2009 21:04 I use Mpegstreamclip - its free and available for Mac and PC. Another free applicaton that's also cross-platfrom is AVIdemux. RE: recording and editing footage - Josh - 25-08-2009 21:21 I now use the above mentioned programs to rip files from DVD's when applicable. Mostly I just record directly to my PC to save time or via the internal tv tuner. Other programs that I have used in the past are Aimersoft DVD Studio, Amadis video converter & TMPGEnc. The programs that I have mentioned are not freeware. RE: recording and editing footage - robby - 25-08-2009 21:23 Virtualdubmpeg2 is great for converting VOB into Divx or Xvid format. Free and available here :- http://home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/stable/ RE: recording and editing footage - samcooke - 25-08-2009 21:29 You know if you change the extension from .VOB to .MPG, you can edit the file with most editors. vids and caps from DVD.Help - killyourself - 05-10-2009 22:07 I've been uploading vids on here for a while now using an external capture device pluged into my DVD recorder.Bought a new DVD recorder a couple of days ago but discovered it doesn't have the same outputs in the back panel so can't use my capture device anymore.Help!or my capping days are over.:(Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Especially advice in plain English, not all that techy jargon. It has a built in HDD.I don't have sky+. RE: vids ans caps from DVD.Help - skateguy - 05-10-2009 22:34 In that case I'd suggest you buy some Rewritable DVD discs. They'll be labelled DVD-RW (don't get DVD+RW). I assume you'll record to the HDD on your DVD recorder. If you do, then transfer your chosen recording from the HDD to one of your DVD-RW discs. Put the DVD in your computer's disc drive and transfer the files to your computer. They'll be in .vob format, which will be different to the format you got using your capture device. The files will look like this: You can edit and export the .vob files using video editing software. There are a number of free apps out there. I guess you're a PC user. One free application is Virtual Dub. There's also AVI demux or MpegStreamclip which are also free. RE: vids ans caps from DVD.Help - killyourself - 05-10-2009 22:44 Right I'll give it a try. Thanks skateguy. |
