Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 03-04-2010 20:50

watched the new dr who tonight and thought it was good. think matt smith will be a good doctor and captures perfectly the eccentricness the doctor needs to have and was impressed with Karen Gillan as Amy Pond as well. Amy will be a good companion for the doctor, very fiesty and gorgeous as well

Had my doubts when Matt Smith was first cast but really enjoyed the episode tonight. Didn't even think about making a comparison to David Tennant or any other actor who had the role previously which is normally common in these circumstances.

Karen Gillan looked great. When she took off the police hat to reveal her long hair - WOW Big Grin Couldn't complain about her performance either.

far better than i expected it to be. Thought both of them were good and i'm with carl13 on the long red hair comment. Particularly looking forward to what looked like 'the daleks do world war one or two' from the trail at the end.

I thought it was a good first episode of the Matt Smith era. Karen Gillan looked pretty gorgeous as a kissergram policewoman and there was a good Doctor-companion chemistry immediately emerging. David Tennant was a a great doctor but I'm hopeful that Matt Smith can fill the role with youthful energy in this series. Promising start...

Agree so far. Wernt sure about Matt Smith at first but was really good. Agree with CARL13 didnt think about the other Doctors as first impressions go this was good. Oh and Amy Pond is hot!!!!!

One thing though what was the frequency thing in the TARDIS that the Doctor turned off it seemed they made a point of showing him turn it off.

Thought it was David Tennet, till I put me glasses on.bladewave

Must have a Tennet that won't move on just yet. Running out of Dr's

RE: Dr Who - Censorship :-( - 04-04-2010 10:45

Early days, but, generally, I agree with much of what has been said; regarding Karen Gillan, though, with her being a good Scottish girl an’ all, I may be biased Wink

Did anyone else think that the new, rather weedy, version of the theme tune sucked?

RE: Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 04-04-2010 10:56

not sure on the theme tune yet either but wouldnt say it sucked

RE: Dr Who - black knight - 04-04-2010 11:21

Being an avid Dr who fan for as long as i can remember,i must say i was very impressed overall.though i do hope they still use some of the characters from the previous series, but in my view, yes it was excellent,a big thumbs up. Smile

Could have been supposed to be the tardis' heartbeat monitor as that obviously 'regenerated' with the doctor and he may have been switching it off to signify completion of regeneration. There was one point where i got the impression there may be a running story similar to the 'bad wolf' one in the first new series but i'll have to watch the episode again to have another look.

Also thought the new theme tune was a bit weak.
