Cricket Banter - Charlemagne - 06-04-2011 10:59 After a dissapointing World Cup the Pakistan selectors have axed a few players for the tour of the West Indies. Gobby wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and alrounder Abdul Razzaq have been axed. Also Younis Khan and pace bowler Umar Gul have been rested for the tour. Akmal failed to hold his catches and missed loads of stumpings. RE: Cricket Banter - sweetsugar007 - 06-04-2011 11:34 I think it says more about the value they place on the tour of the West Indies.Don't see them doing that if they came to England. RE: Cricket Banter - lancealot790 - 06-04-2011 11:45 There was a time when a tour of the west indies was considered a challenging and prestigious occasion but in recent times it,s more of a workout until you play the big boys of world cricket. A sad demise of a cricketing power RE: Cricket Banter - sweetsugar007 - 06-04-2011 12:07 It is, but it is their own fault. They did not build on their assets at the time and the rulings restricting fast bowling in the 80's and the move to produce corpse wickets did not help their aggressive Cricket style. However I understand they have some very talented young players coming through so maybe times will change. All the power sits with Asia at the moment. Its where the money is. RE: Cricket Banter - lancealot790 - 06-04-2011 12:25 Actually i think the sub continents grip on cricket is about to come to an end. India,s power lies in their batting but most of the top players are the wrong side of 35 so they will be retiring soon. Sri Lanka have some decent players but with the retirement of murilitharan they have lost their biggest match winner. Pakistan are far too erratic and it will take them a long time to get over the betting scandal. RE: Cricket Banter - bigguy01 - 06-04-2011 14:19 anyone over 6ft in west indies tend to drift towards nba. west indies wont have the same sort of bowling attack of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. RE: Cricket Banter - sweetsugar007 - 06-04-2011 15:37 Its a bit of myth this anything over 6ft tall from the West indies goes to the NBA. They are more likely to go into Boxing or Football as there is more chance of them making it. Not many cases of success in the NBA outside of Cuba and the Dominican Republic and they don't play Cricket anyway!! RE: Cricket Banter - The Narcissist - 06-04-2011 15:59 Well i'm an indian and therefore an India fan. And I'm on top of the world. The best team won the world cup and that was India. Good to see Sachin complete his trophy cabinet with the World Cup. I felt sorry for Sri Lanka though as I like them and if I didn't support India because of my roots I would support Sri Lanka because they are a nice team who play cricket in good spirit and are gracious in defeat. As for Pakistan well.... hahahahahahahaha that's 5 times in a row we (Indian) have beaten you in the world cup now lol RE: Cricket Banter - mitchell - 06-04-2011 20:34 I've just noticed your thread Charlemagne & I can't help but think you missed the trick & should've called it Cricket Sledging ![]() ![]() RE: Cricket Banter - Charlemagne - 06-04-2011 23:00 No I'm not a fan of sledging...... If a team can't win on ability then they don't deserve to win at all. I'll just leave the sledging to the Aussies. |
