Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - Fernandez Esperenda - 27-08-2012 16:16 Ok guys, who do you all see winning it this year? Could chelsea retain there title with all their new players and younger squad or are we going for the usual suspects again this year in barca and real? RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - groundnpound - 27-08-2012 18:59 Got a few quid on Man City at 7/1. RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - dan g 27 - 27-08-2012 19:23 I would go for the safe bet and say Real Madrid. If I was to pick 2 surprise teams that could win it, it would be Juventus and Borussia Dortmund RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - Fernandez Esperenda - 27-08-2012 19:57 (27-08-2012 19:23 )dan g 27 Wrote: I would go for the safe bet and say Real Madrid. juve are a good call, ive seen madrid play 3 times this season and 2bh pretty poor showing, barca look strong tho messis already got 5 goals in 3 games RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - lovebabes56 - 28-08-2012 07:32 One way or another I don't think Chelsea will retain their title I think the title will head to either spain or Italy or possibly Russia. or even to a country who's never won it before. But I do expect Chelea will be drawn out in the so - called Group of Death situation, which I think will see them paired with Man Utd and maybe Juve plus one other. Under the rules of the competition that's impossible. In the group stage draw of the Champions League teams from the same national association cannot be drawn against each other, so a Chelsea-Man Utd clash can't happen. Even if that rule didn't exist it would still be totally impossible for Chelsea and Man Utd to be drawn against each other, because they are both top seeds in the draw, i.e. both placed in pot 1 for the draw and therefore have to go into different groups, as is also the case with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Porto and Milan. I wouldn't say Real Madrid is a safe bet when they haven't won the thing for ten years and have started the season slowly. They're currently 4.8 on Betfair to win it, which looks like short odds to me. Barcelona would be the so-called "safe bet" but again those odds are not attractive. I'd have to say Man U look better value. They surely can't be as bad as they were last season in this competition. The odds are bound to change after the draw on Thursday. With the seedings, a group with (for example) Barcelona, Man City and PSG is a possibility Odds of the favourites: Barcelona 3.85, Real M 4.8, Man City 8.6, Man U 12.5, Bayern 14.5, Chelsea 16, Juventus 21, PSG 24, Dortmund 30, Arsenal 32 RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - dan g 27 - 28-08-2012 11:55 (28-08-2012 08:10 )eagle_si Wrote:Well I don't think it makes much of a difference on how long since they have won the Champions League.(27-08-2012 19:23 )dan g 27 Wrote: I would go for the safe bet and say Real Madrid. They have lots of experience in that team, a manager in Mourinho, who also has a great record in the Champions League and have arguably the best squad in the world. Yes they have made a bad start to the season and have not played well in their last 3 games. But I think as the season progresses Real Madrid will hit top form. Plus I think Real Madrid would be more motivated to win the Champions League this season RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - Phoenix - 28-08-2012 12:36 Juventus is a good shout, but I'm going for Real Madrid. Back-to-back semi finals (only lost on pens last year), and I think they'll make it a priority this year over the league Or of course Chelsea to become the first team to retain the Champions League RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - groundnpound - 28-08-2012 15:07 I don't fancy Juventus at all for this lads. Three of you have mentioned them! There's 10 teams in the competition with a better chance for me. Serie A's not the same anymore, it's a pale shadow of the league it used to be. The Juve manager is banned for the full season as well. Would steer well clear if your having a bet. |
