I figured it would be worth starting an alternative thread to the WWE/TNA thread for the other companies out there, feel free to share any thoughts you may have on any upcoming shows or ppvs or recommended matches, which other brands do you follow or enjoy? I hope the purpose of thread may also introduce or shine other members to the other products out there besides the WWE because the independent scene as never been in a more talented and better place in last couple years.

I will get the ball rolling with lucha underground, which is unique in both the show format given its done over a season rather than the usual constant cycle, and the wrestling itself stands out from anything else with its fast paced mexican style.

Here is a recap of its first season.

Quote:EL REY NETWORK, MARK BURNETT AND MGM GREENLIGHT THIRD SEASON OF 'LUCHA UNDERGROUND'

Austin, TX– February 1, 2016 – El Rey Network, Emmy Award®-winning producer Mark Burnett and MGM today announced that the popular Lucha Libre wrestling series "Lucha Underground" will return for a third season. The chant starting, blood pumping, action-packed, character-driven series will begin production on the third season immediately in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles and will premiere on El Rey Network in early 2017. Season Two debuted on El Rey Network on January 27th and airs on Wednesdays at 8:00pm ET/PT.

"'Lucha Underground' has caught fire by developing a loyal and passionate fan base," said El Rey Network Chairman and Founder Robert Rodriguez. "I am proud that its home is El Rey Network, and we're excited to announce a season three return for even more no-holds-barred action."

"I am so excited that the fans will be able to continue to enjoy the incredible action and stories," said Executive Producer Mark Burnett.

Ancient tradition, extraordinary athleticism, and a flare for theatrics combine in El Rey Network's wrestling series, "Lucha Underground." The riveting original introduces American audiences to the high-flying aerial maneuvers, slingshot moves, dramatic masks, intricate, rapid-fire combinations and distinctive wrestling techniques of lucha libre, one of Mexico's most popular sports. Fans have a ringside seat as masked villains and heroes face off to battle for wrestling supremacy. The weekly series provides enthusiastic viewers with an incredibly visceral and explosive experience with a focus on the artistry, originality, intense action and over-the-top characters that have come to define this phenomenal fan-favorite. A celebration of lucha libre's long-standing Mesoamerican heritage and culture dating back to 1863, this is programming that must be seen to be believed.

Great news.Big Grin

This is fantastic for wrestling fans that want to see an athlete be able to show what he or she can do without any silly limitations due to overblown egos.

Its only small things I picked up on when watching but I love how the commentators react in the way that they dont see whats happened backstage because their unable to see it, feels different and brings more realism to the show.

Far more effective than wwe's formulaic approach.

LU did not have one single bad match last season.

matt striker and vampire do act like fans when something amazing happens like angelico diving of the top of the office into the ring. also what makes lu different is that there are no barriers between the wrestlers and fans.

The commentary pair does work well, some people often forget the importance of them, they have done a grand job of keeping me invested carrying over from the last season, looking forward to this weeks episode.

Good point.

To me they have those great qualities of being entertaining whilst making the prouduct seem real.I haven't seen this type of commentary since Jesse Ventura or Jim Ross in his prime years as an announcer.

Robert rodriguez knows how to make good tv/films. what I like is that the matches are interrupted by ads and there are no replays so I spend more time going back to see the move again and again if it was a "holy shit" moment. also they are not afraid to have female wrestlers going against male wrestlers. Dario cueto is a better heel owner/chairman than vince McMahon.

it would be great if they have the gecko brothers from dusk til dawn making an appearance.
