Chris Evans, walked or pushed - Charlemagne - 03-09-2018 11:36

Delighted to see that Chris Evans is leaving radio2 at Christmas.

He's saying that he needs more mountains to conquer.
But he's leaving the most popular radio show, and he'll be leaving his £1.6 million salary.
It's not as though he's going to have sleep in's. He joining the breakfast show at Virgin.

So did he walk or was he a BBC cost saving

Hi

I imagine it was pride, the BBC probably wanted to reduce his 1.6 million salary, he would be having none of it so he got another station

Strange thing is he will probably be getting less with Virgin, but I imagine he can justify the cut to himself more easily than he could at the BBC

If the BBC wanted him that badly in the first place, and he hasn't caused much bother since, I can't see they'd have tried easing him out.

He's got a long track record of fidgeting for work, only doing short (-ish) runs and then moving on to something else.

Maybe he wants to do TFI Friday again (please no).

The BBC reported that they doubted he would be paid any less at Virgin. They seem to be parting on good terms.

You mean like, when you give an employee a glowing reference in the hope some mug will take him off your hands before you have to fire him? Wink
