The Spread Thread - Boomerangutangangbang - 24-11-2020 12:32 I suspect I'm just gonna be accused of laziness, but WTF, this is the equivalent of a Coronavirus mutation, like a relative of The Bread Thread. The Bread Threads going a bit stale & moldy, so the logic solution, you is, what you put on your bread. Not just talking about margarine or butter (now there's a debate) whatever you clart on your slice, be it sweet, savory or both (weird). If you want you can post about bed spreads (not really my original intention) or spreadsheets (bit boring) spread betting (don't fully understand this). if your completely at a loss as what to post here you could always post some pics of spread legs, but I think we've pretty much got that covered elsewhere. RE: The Spread Thread - Cheesy Grin - 24-11-2020 23:00 My spreads would need to be Cheesy, of course RE: The Spread Thread - Boomerangutangangbang - 25-11-2020 12:37 In the interest of balance I'll start with something that I'm not a big fan of, chocolate spread. However it's clearly quite popular, it's claimed that a years production of Nutella jars would circle the earth 1.8 times. It dates back to World War II, created in Italy when ground hazelnut was added to the chocolate spread to make up for the cocoa shortage in the country. It's creator baker Pietro Ferrero was part of the company that is now the 3rd largest chocolate producer in the world. For me even as a chocolate fan, I can really do bread & chocolate, apart from a croissant. RE: The Spread Thread - ukdoll - 25-11-2020 13:32 I have Marmite pretty much every day. Plus, put a bit in your gravy. It's great. Try it. RE: The Spread Thread - Boomerangutangangbang - 25-11-2020 13:57 ^^ I'm in the 50% of people that actually loves Marmite, but I can understand the other 50% of people that hate it. Don't know if you can get the large jars again. The pandemic lockdown lead to pub closures & breweries reduced production. Marmite uses the spent brewers yeast as an ingredient & as yeast is a live product it can't be stockpiled. RE: The Spread Thread - SecretAgent - 25-11-2020 14:09 Lotus Biscoff Biscuits Lotus Biscoff Ice Cream Lotus Biscoff Spread How? Why? RE: The Spread Thread - Boomerangutangangbang - 25-11-2020 14:47 ^^ Think I need to educate myself regarding this, I love the biscuits, will have to give the others a go. You've just reminded me though, I was given some Favorina Spiced Biscuit Spread a while back, never opened it. RE: The Spread Thread - SecretAgent - 25-11-2020 15:53 I’m still at my age an occasional jam sandwich man and a regular marmalade on toast afficionado. Favourite jam is Tiptree Little Scarlett Strawberry Jam whilst the marmalade has to be either Tiptree Old Times Orange or Tiptree Orange with Malt Whisky. In my youth a Golden Syrup sandwich was a very messy delight. RE: The Spread Thread - Boomerangutangangbang - 26-11-2020 10:06 I think marmalade just has the edge for me over jam. Currently I've got Mackays Rhubarb & Ginger Marmalade, something a bit different. Usually Whisky Marmalade would be found in my cupboard during the festive period. RE: The Spread Thread - SecretAgent - 26-11-2020 10:49 Just had strawberry jam on a nice piece of sourdough with my coffee |
