RE: World Snooker Shootout - Snooks - 02-12-2024 18:30 This years shootout starts on Wednesday with Mark Allen looking to defend the title. RE: World Snooker Shootout - lovebabes56 - 02-12-2024 18:59 I hope they find some way to pay tribute to Terry RE: World Snooker Shootout - Joannis - 04-12-2024 07:20 Scotland's Sophie Nix, Women's World no.1 in the under 21 category, makes her WST debut today after receiving a surprise wildcard invitation to the Shootout. Her opponent will be Anthony McGill. Not much is expected from her, but in a one frame shootout anything can happen. I would love to see her knock out McGill! RE: World Snooker Shootout - Snooks - 04-12-2024 19:18 Winners so far today include defending champion Mark Allen and former champion Thepchaiya un Nooh. Anthony McGill beat Sophie Nix while there have also been wins for Robert Milkins, David Gilbert and Gary Wilson. RE: World Snooker Shootout - Joannis - 04-12-2024 22:00 Yes, boring, boring McGill won, despite the crowd getting behind Sophie and calling every shot McGill did, boring. Although the one frame format is, in theory, a leveller, as anyone can win in the one frame, the top ranked players have been getting the wins. Gary Wilson made a 59 break in his victory over Reanne Evans, Si Jiahui made a 78 break in his victory over Jordan Brown. Robert Milkins was playing 14 year old Joe Shannon, another amateur making his debut on the WST Tour. Shannon is the Irish Under 16 champion. In one of the closest finishes of the day, Shannon was leading 42-1, but with runs of 20 and 24, Milkins managed to rescue the match and win by 3 points. RE: World Snooker Shootout - Joannis - 05-12-2024 22:46 The top seeds are continuing to dominate, with Selby making a 52 break, Neil Robertson making a 57 break, and Zhang Anda making an 89 break. Wins also for Tubbs (boring ) and He Guoqiang (over Stuart Bingham). The only real upset was Lisowski losing to Julian Boiko. Jak Jones is still to come tonight, as is the heavyweight top 16 clash between Chris Wakelin and...er...Craptain Carter. Another fantastic win for Bai Yulu. She was 40-13 up after getting some brilliant long pots, but almost let the game slip when she missed a red and left Jamie Clarke a chance. Clarke got to within 4 points of her, but then missed, and she added another 7 points to come out victorious. Wins also for Artemis Zizins and Bulcsu Revesz. Mink Nutcharut started well with a run of 11, but couldn't hold on to the lead and Liam Graham eventually got the win. Elliot Slessor and Mostafa Dorgham got the record for lowest scoring match in the history of Shootout. Slessor won 7 points to 1, but only by fluking a red in the last minute with Dorgham leading 1-0. Edit: Jak Jones has just got the win over Joshua Cooper. RE: World Snooker Shootout - Snooks - 05-12-2024 23:51 Loving Bai Yulu . RE: World Snooker Shootout - Joannis - 06-12-2024 07:31 Unfortunately, Bai got a tough draw for the next round, getting drawn against Zhang Anda. Still, it's only one frame, let's see how she goes. Sadly Craptain Carter scored a 17-1 victory over Wakelin in another low scoring match. Selby v Jak Jones looks like it might be the heavyweight clash of the day. Other heavyweight clashes include Robertson v Jackson Page, Tubbs v Gilbert, and Mark Allen v Si Jiahui. Robert Milkins starts the day off, playing Graeme Dott. RE: World Snooker Shootout - Snooks - 06-12-2024 19:04 Booooo to Zhang Anda knocking out Bai Yulu. Defending champion Mark Allen is out after defeat to Si Jiahui. David Gilbert has seen off Shaun Murphy with a break of 73. RE: World Snooker Shootout - Joannis - 06-12-2024 21:19 (06-12-2024 19:04 )Snooks Wrote: David Gilbert has seen off Shaun Murphy with a break of 73. Woohoo!! Milkins started the day off with a 71 break to see off Dott. Robertson trailed 35-0 to Jackson Page, but came back with a break of 44 and held on for the win. Wu Yize was 31-0 down to Matthew Stevens, but hit back with a 51 break to win. Noppon Saengkham was 12 points down with less than a minute to go, but made a run of 13 to win by 1, getting the red he needed with seconds to spare. Duane Jones made a break of 69 to knock out McGill. Martin O'Donnell made an 83 to break to knock out Guodong, but just ran out of time to steal the highest break so far from Zhang Anda of 89. Losses also for Revesz, Zizins, Un-Nooh and Gary Wilson, but Anton Kowalski beat Under 16 European (Edit) Championship runner-up Riley Powell. The Craptain v Lyu Haotian, and Selby v Jak Jones are still to come. Then tomorrow is the mad last day, when every remaining round and every match must be played. |
