Re the above Avator take away the special effects there's a pretty unoriginal story, although its an improvement on the same director's Titanic. Bonnie and Clyde worth catching

The classic one.

Just to be pedantic - the Kurt Russell one was also a remake.
The original film was in B&W and called "The Thing From Another World".
It has not aged well.

The Thing(1982)was closer to the short story Who Goes There? by J W Campbell, The Thing from Another World was an adaptation of said short story but they couldn't do the shape shifter elements of the creature back in the 50s.
