There is a long-standing issue with forums, I think when using the Quick Reply box, and posting from a mobile device in particular, that it double-posts. Happens on vbulletin forums as well.
There is also an issue here on mybb where sometimes the last post in a thread can't be seen. It is listed in new posts, but can't be read when viewing the thread. It is detailed elsewhere here, I think it is something to do with number of posts, changing the 'posts-per-page' setting makes the post visible, as does someone making another post in the thread.
So, your issues could be a combination of those two existing and known issues.

I know it's odd but the 'Search' & 'Member List' buttons keep changing around.
It could be down to the out of date browser that I use but I see them change around from page to page.

Oddly enough it's the same for me on the PC and the iPad.

On the main index.php page, I have it as Member List - Search, but when viewing threads or sections or posting, and pretty much everywhere else it seems, it is Search - Member List
