RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - bytor - 12-06-2014 22:26 What a great idea for a game. FIFA President 2014. You start off as a minor official at a dodgy bank then through nefarious deals and backhanders move over to become the chief exec of a major league. To really succeed the player has to become totally immoral, turn a blind eye when it suits and build a network of support and strength behind the scenes. Bonus points for fixing games and awarding football tournaments to inappropriate nations. Finally acheive the role of emperor, where to survive you must corrupt the force to use against any opposition! RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - lovebabes56 - 13-06-2014 06:54 so who wins is the one with most money then? RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - HannahsPet - 13-06-2014 16:47 Blimey the Kaiser has been banned for 90 days by FIFA from failing to co operate with the enquiry Grrr hope he isnt implicated because he would be the best candidate Uefa could put up againsts Bladder RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - event horizon - 13-06-2014 17:14 Beckenbauer claims he didn't understand the questions put to him because they were in English not German. RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - lovebabes56 - 13-06-2014 17:49 I thought he understood English. I too hope he isn't implicated. He would be perfect as a candidate but I don't think he would win. other than that is it Blatter's way of ensuring that given the current situation, UEFA doesn't have a credible candidate to run against him? No because a 90 day ban is actually very mild. Beckenbauer admits to not co-operating with the enquiry, so could easily have been banned for a lot longer. The punishment is lenient. RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - lovebabes56 - 15-06-2014 06:32 Whew at least it probably is a relief to him that ban was so lenient. RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - lovebabes56 - 11-03-2019 06:57 In what has to come to light in Sunday Times article yesterday there must be fresh doubts as to whether the vote was fair and whether now the FA will call for the tournament to be moved. I would not be surprised if after qualifying in Europe some teams pull out because 'schedule problems', as we still have not known how our league season schedule will be affected. RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - Doddle - 11-03-2019 07:59 There were qestions about Qatar from the off. That said, almost all World Cup tournaments get scare stories coming up with reasons for moving it (to England, usually - gutter journalists kidding their readers they might get a WC on their doorstep after all); it just makes a change to suggest corruption (cf. the 2002 WC in Japan/SK - too monsoony). Qatar is regularly in the news because Saudi Arabia hates it. Follow the money RE: 2022 World Cup Qatar - lovebabes56 - 11-03-2019 09:59 Wasn't a winter break in our sesson mooted to cover the WC in Qatar at one time? |
