T20 today. India have won the toss and England will bat first. England team: 1 Alex Hales, 2 Michael Lumb, 3 Luke Wright, 4 Eoin Morgan (capt), 5 Samit Patel, 6 Jos Buttler (wk), 7 Tim Bresnan, 8 James Tredwell, 9 Stuart Meaker, 10 Danny Briggs, 11 Jade Dernbach. Buttler keeps in an international game for the first time. 2 specialist spinners as Briggs plays. Debut for Meaker. Very interesting decision about Bairstow, as he missed selection for the last test and is now out of the T20 side.

England managed what proved to be an under par 157-6,at one stage were 89-1 with 56 from Hales & 34 from Wright in a stand of 68,They then lost 3-11 before some late hitting by Butler with 33 provided some impetus.Yuvraj taking 3-19.England served up 10 wides with a wayward start & never really recovered,India getting home with 13 balls to spare for the loss of 5 wickets.Yuvraj making 38 to go with his vital bowling spell was Man Of The Match.

So-so performance today. Shame about the first couple of overs we bowled and Briggs. Our start with the bat was a bit iffy until Wright and Hales got going, so on that basis I would bring in Root for Lumb for the 2nd game.

A good call rocksavior,I don't see the point of adding an in-form Root to the squad & then waste the opportunity of utilizing him.

It's the second T20 match today and India have made 177/8. England have Joe Root playing in place of Danny Briggs and having won the toss put India in to bat. Can England square the series - they need 178 to win and I think this match might have a close finish?

England are doing well but still need 2 a ball..
They keep losing silly wickets to part time baller Yuvraj Singh.

And England win after Morgan hits a 6 off the last ball.. Smile

Great win,but you have to question the tactics with 12 an over required off 5 overs & England sent in Patel when they had Butler who played so well in the first match.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of T20. This 'wallop and giggle' form of the game is a format too far imo. Yes, 5 day test matches provide the ultimate challenge. ODI's - whether 40 or 50 overs, yes as a vehicle for commercial viability.

Just how many more formats does the game need?
