It could be they could all retire from international football

But if the players refused to play in the world cup Blatter would be finished, so it ultimately wouldn't interfere with glory hunting etc.

Blatter was always going to win, every nation has a vote no matter how small the population and he has lavished millions on these minor football federations, in return he is guaranteed their vote. The major nations have virtually no chance of changing things the way the system is.

Finally you're all catching up with Scotland, we've been boycotting the World Cup for fucking years.

Bit satire there for a Friday night. Basically, Phonebook is saying that Scotland's absence from the World Cup was a protest, and not just cos we're crap.

Thanks now, goodnight everyone.

UEFA officials are due to meet at the Champions League final in Berlin on 6 June where they could discuss any future plans.

It plays into the hands of the venal and corrupt to suggest that all would be right with the world if Blatter were gone.

Football is too big and FIFA is too rich and powerful for this to be all about one man. The rot must go so much deeper than that.

Blatter stays, Blatter goes. So what? The issue is not Blatter. The issue is FIFA. It needs root-and-branch reform. Admittedly, this starts with the president. But the single-minded obsession with Blatter worries me.

My concern is that he takes, say, 6 months to cover his tracks and then resigns. Woo Hoo ... the world rejoices. And under the cover of that joy some other snake just takes his place.

We need to stop personalizing this with the convenient devil that is Blatter and start dealing with the broader Hell that is FIFA.

I Still think that FIFA needs to rebrand itself and have a new name everything and that to me would be the only way the organisation could survive
