The aussie openers will have a good nights sleep and comeback tomorrow recharged and relaxed, the last thing they would have wanted is to go out first thing and have to rush back in and come back out again 10 minutes later.

^ That point I agree with.
However I think it is probably for the best England getting bowled out anyway. Prevents Cook declaring way too late and running the risk of running out of time to bowl Australia out.
The newly positive brand of cricket England seem to be playing makes a welcome change.
Had England gone into their shells Australia would have sensed it and gone for the throat.
England seem intent on playing no fear cricket and it has the Aussies rattled at present.
Yeah ok so some silly dismissals have happened but self inflicted dismissals have been a feature of Englands batting long before this with a different brand of cricket being played.
England are taking it to the opposition which against a team like Australia who thrive on bullying the opposition is the right way to go imo. Face the bullies down and give them a taste of their own medicine. I hope England carry on playing this way to be honest.

Playing aggressively is always the way to go in the long term even if you make game losing mistakes in the short term. I think that's applicable to all sports. At football see Barcelona at rugby look at the all blacks. Both teams may lose the odd game they should win but in the long term win a lot more than they lose. Australia put their past cricketing dominance down to attacking cricket.

I have no problem with attacking cricket but there is also the mental aspect of the game to consider, bowling England out gave them a lift but to have declared 20 minutes into the morning session would have put the aussies in a different frame of mind.

Whats with all the negativity they have set the aussies the highest run rate in a 2nd innings to get in the history of the ashes. If the aussies get it then they will have deserved to win it.

The weather for Sunday is a lil shoddy so basically England have tommorow to bowl them out. it can be done.

The pitch is likely to be the factor whether it will decide to favour favour the Aussies or us....

You could say the same about England's bowlers really.

Besides, why go on the defensive when you already have a lead of 400 or so?

Its not defensive to make to aussies wait, firstly it says to them, you could not bowl us out you had to wait for a declaration and secondly it means their openers are rushed. When Steve Waugh was in charge of the great Australian side of the nineties he never bothered using a nightwatchman as it sent the wrong message to the opposition, that you were frightened of losing another wicket or that they were even capable of taking one. Psychology plays a great part in sport and you should never pass up the opportunity to grind your opponents into the dirt.
