Milkins made a fantastic 48 clearance in the last frame of the session to only be 5-3 behind and not 6-2 after Gilbert lost position on the red he needed to leave Milkins needing snookers. Nice to see Desislava Bozhilova the referee with a makeover looking so stunning.
Judd struggled with the table before the interval, but no such problem after the interval where he won 4 frames in a row.
Allen v Higgins has to be the tie of the round because each have something to lose. Allen is no.1 in the provisional rankings and wants to stay there. Higgins is 17th in the provisional rankings and wants to be in the top 16 for the start of the new season.

Eight seeds going out in the first round matches the Crucible era record as I understand it

The exit of so many seeds opens the way for lesser names like Jak Jones and Joe O'Connor. Though the top half of the draw looks like putting either Mark Allen or Kyren Wilson to the final. With Judd or Ronnie from the bottom half.

If Desi represents Maguire and Tatiana represents Tubbs, then if Desi wins Maguire progresses to the quarter finals. A bit late now anyway as the match starts in about half an hour.
Consecutive centuries by Gilbert in the last 2 frames of the session make him look in good shape to beat the winner of Maguire v Tubbs, whoever that may be.
I think someone's hired Jak Jones, the silent assassin, to take out all the Chinese players. First he took out Zhang, now 6-2 up against the only remaining Chinese player, Si.
