Detailed review of ep.4 (includes a response from Rory Reid with some insight into the stance offered by Extra Gear): http://www.autoblog.com/2016/06/20/top-gear-episode-four-review/

BBC website piece on the validity of the non-linear viewing argument; how it differs for various types of programme often depending their majority demographic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36487069

On an allied note - TG to be moved to 6.30pm if sixth and final episode clashes with an England quarter-final in the Euros: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/22/top-gear-to-abandon-8pm-slot-if-england-qualify-for-euro-2016-qu/ (England must beat Iceland on Monday evening first.)

...And finally, next up for the celeb back-slapping segment: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz-tv/hot-tv/525031/top-gear-greg-davies-giant-ant-and-dec-malina-andersson

Following the filming on the last studio sessions on Thursday (http://www.wonderwall.com/news/patrick-dempsey-and-matt-leblanc-team-up-for-top-gear-1926635.article), the presenters will now be writing for TG mag more: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/top-gear-magazine-gets-boost-8284130

Le Blanc's him or me for next series? https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1342259/get-chris-evans-off-top-gear-or-im-out-warns-friends-star-leblanc/

RE: Top Gear - Doddle - 28-06-2016 06:46

Yeah, that still wasn't too bad. That Chris and Rory do the serious road tests tells you a lot, that Matt, a comic actor, can deliver funny lines, is hardly a shock, and if Evans passes the baton at the end of this series, it won't hurt the show (depending on who they pass the baton to).

RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 28-06-2016 07:11

^ I can't see that happening, however much it might benefit the programme. The guy has a three year contract and the beeb are cash strapped. Don't see Evans walking away gratis.

Decent show this week, those two Rolls Royce convertables were my favourite and of the two i would go for the classic one instead of BMW's vision of what one should be like, also good to see Norman Dewis is still around,he is a legend.

RE: Top Gear - Doddle - 28-06-2016 12:54

^^^I preferred the modern one, even though it looks more like a Bentley or something.

Not that I'm likely to own either anyway Tongue

TG's overnight ratings and audience share rose for the first time this series with ep.5: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/jun/27/top-gear-gets-back-on-track-as-ratings-rise-by-300000

The beeb are putting in a new producer as boss over Evans for the next series (scheduled to begin filming in September according to several papers this week): http://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/684355/BBC-Top-Gear-producer-control-Chris-Evans

Crisis talks to be held with the beeb at the end of this month: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1370677/chris-evans-will-be-told-to-drop-the-tantrums-in-crisis-talks-with-the-beebs-new-big-boss-or-face-being-kicked-to-the-kerb/ (although as the Daily Mail points out the boss in question doesn't start her job officially until September 5).

All the bigger name hosts missed the series' wrap party: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3671413/Aren-t-couple-people-missing-Chris-Evans-Matt-LeBlanc-skip-Gear-s-season-wrap-party-trendy-London-bar-BBC-bosses-consider-s-future.html

Met police will investigate Evans' past: https://heatst.com/uk/top-gear-host-chris-evans-to-be-quizzed-by-police-over-sexual-offence-allegation/
