The things we learn everyday. I never knew you were a Hearts Supporter, that'll explain why you dislike Hibs and Rangers so much then The way Hearts are going and playing right now who'd bet against them challenging for the title next season as arguably they've got the best team outside Celtic despite the current different leagues they both play in right now. As glad as I am to see one of Scotland's oldest teams back up I dread playing them next season as things currently stand. The results from the Scottish Premiership today went as follows. Inverness CT 1 Celtic 1 Dundee Utd 1 Hamilton 0 Partick Thistle 2 Motherwell 0 St Johnstone 1 Dundee 0 Also mikeafc will be a very happy man too I'd imagine as his Dunfermline side finally won a game against title challengers Stranraer but I still think their chances of getting into the Play Off's are slim. RE: Scottish Football - mikedafc - 12-04-2015 23:09 ^ Too little too late after Brechin's late late win over Stirling Albion RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 13-04-2015 06:09 (11-04-2015 18:55 )Scottishbloke Wrote: Well not a good result today for Doddle today I suspect but I'm obviously a very happy man as we got our first win in 10 gamesYes, fair play to you, with belated magnanimity RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 14-04-2015 01:56 Well its certainly grim times if you're a Motherwell supporter. At the end of last season they secured victory against Aberdeen to finish 2nd behind Celtic now they face the harsh reality of relegation. Tonight they were looking for a favour but it never came as it finished St Mirren 0 Ross County 3 to put them 6 points clear of Motherwell so it now looks odds on that it will be Motherwell who will finish in that dreaded second bottom Play Off Spot. Not an easy prospect when it's almost certain that they face either Hibs or Rangers and as a neutral you have to fancy the Championship team. Motherwell have been in Scotlands top division since season 1984/85 so it looks like we'll be saying goodbye to another team which has established itself at the top of the game for so long. RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 14-04-2015 06:48 Ross County look good for a Manager of the Month gong (hey, East Stirling got one last month!), and the lesser-coveted chance to overtake Hamilton It's a bit of a sad slide for Motherwell. When your own team are having trouble, you can overlook others who have it worse. However it means 10th is probably the worst we can finish RE: Scottish Football - mikedafc - 14-04-2015 10:38 If you take results from beginning of year Ross County would be top of the league with 25 points RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 14-04-2015 18:38 Yes Doddle the transformation in Ross County has been remarkable. I've always rated Jim McIntyre as a good manager, he was harshly sacked I felt by Dunfermline at the time and now look at the state of the Pars. I also count my lucky stars for my own team. Being involved in a relegation battle is a really stressful time. I remember having many sleepless nights leading up to our own past battles. I was at McDiarmid Park back in 2001 when we invaded the pitch after pulling off the impossible. I also remember going up to Inverness CT only needing a point to stay up in 2005 and the tension in both games you could cut with a knife. You don't care how your teams performs at all as there is no time for fancy football at that time of the season. It was route 1 ball straight into the box football with nothing really pleasing on the eyes but as a supporter you don't care as you'll tolerate anything just so long as that balls cross's the line. I also think that if Motherwell go down that I fear for the future of that club as they've been close in the past of going out of business and I very much doubt that if Rangers win promotion that the likes of SKY and BT Sport will bother all that much next season when it comes to what games to broadcast in the Championship. |
