RE: Dr Who - *Kal-El* - 16-10-2014 19:47 RE: Dr Who - The Silent Majority - 18-10-2014 07:12 Watched it last night. Thought it started well, more like a traditional Dr Who (dollop of mystery, scaryish monster and Clara doing the 'trapped and waiting to be rescued' thing) then it went a bit downhill. Not keen on the way life seems cheap to this doctor. It wouldn't have stretched the scriptwriters that much to have him at least attempt to save each one as the clock counted down. Assuming they are dead, of course. I guess it depends how this sub-plot's going to pan out. This whole Clara/Doctor thing is doing my head in. I think they should have just given her half the episodes this time and given Capaldi room to establish his Doctor without her in his face all the time. They could've had a couple with the 3 stooges, a couple of guests and, actually, I quite liked Skinners' character. He could've done a couple. I just think it would've mixed things up a bit and we would've looked forward to Clara's appearances more. And wtf happened at the very end, did she suddenly come off her period or something RE: Dr Who - Regenerated - 18-10-2014 13:55 My worry is that I think that they may be giving more focus to Clara than the Doctor because they know Jenna Coleman's leaving - they want to cram as much stuff in as possible. That could be a bad thing because they'll end up jam packing too many plot lines in to the show, and the whole thing will turn in to a confused mess at the series finale. Ironically they'll put so much screen time in of her but most of it so far has been irrelevant and not really telling us much about what's going on - the romance with Danny is crap, the strained relationship with the Doctor is already getting tiresome... I just don't know anymore. It's like they throw this stuff together without much thought since Matt Smith took over and sadly so far for me it's continuing with Peter Capaldi. The writers, primarily Steven Moffat, must take full blame if this show crashes and burns by the end of the year. Fingers crossed it doesn't. Coleman may not actually be leaving. She has yet to totally make her mind up on the matter apparently. I wouldn't mind seeing an episode where a darker Doctor dumps her out of the tardis and fucks off. RE: Dr Who - lazydayz - 19-10-2014 00:48 So there IS more to Clara then. Can anybody else see a spin off Female time-lord thing happening. Churchill let hundreds of troops die knowing full well they would, but he couldn't let the Germans know that the enigma code had been cracked, so some had to be sacrificed for the greater good, it's lesson he seems to be hammering home to Clara for some reason. Nah, the BBC can barely afford this, let alone any more. Thought this week was very good, though not as good as last week. RE: Dr Who - bytor - 19-10-2014 06:54 A better episode last night overall, though the supporting actors continue to annoy with their fresh out of drama school acting. Weak ending too with the Doctor jumping out of the Tardis and saving the day just with the sonic screwdriver. Should have used it earlier if that was the answer. RE: Dr Who - *Kal-El* - 19-10-2014 07:57 RE: Dr Who - biggles - 19-10-2014 10:51 I thought last nights was a good episode - interesting monster and some thing that has been discussed in other Sci-Fi. Anyone know where it was filmed, I know it's Cardiff based just the scenes on the railway with the old BR rolling stock in the shed and the tunnel. |
