^ I know the word can cause offence to small people but it is used in many cases to describe size unrelated to a person eg midget submarine, midget gems etc. This seems an overreaction but a sign of the times we live in. I suppose anyone called Colin can now ask M&S to change the name of Colin the Caterpillar as it causes them offence

I know that our language is constantly evolving, with many words falling out of use & newer more stupid ones added daily, but with so many deemed offensive, a modern dictionary would no longer be a book, more like a pamphlet.
