RE: Ofcom Discussion - continental19 - 28-11-2011 23:37 Well trying to keep things in perspective, if more and more of the Babe channels are getting Squeezed by Ofcom which are on the SKY EPG, then a possible move to freeview might and i stress might be the answer. I to be honest with you aren't that bothered who has the Babe channels just as long as we keep our beloved babe channels on TV. I'll be curious to see how many other channels will jump ship and move to freeview within the next 3-4months? RE: Ofcom Discussion - Gibbs Luvs Dani O - 29-11-2011 00:06 I think the reason that ofcom are targeting SKY babe channels.Has to do with SKY's audience being mostly a family audience. And ofcom going after them for exposing under 18's to adult content. Freeview escapes their wrath because mostly it will be a single male, female who is watching. I know your intention here probably wasn't to defend Ofcom's actions, but sentences like the one I've highlighted infuriate me. The babe channels are in the adult section, don't feature any nudity until after 10pm, and can be locked out of the system by any concerned parents. If 'under 18s' are exposed to these channels, then the only people who should be held responsible are the parents/guardians of said under 18s. Good point RE: Ofcom Discussion - eccles - 30-11-2011 02:12 (29-11-2011 00:06 )GIBBS LUVS DANI O Wrote: I think the reason that ofcom are targeting SKY babe channels.Has to do with SKY's audience being mostly a family audience. And ofcom going after them for exposing under 18's to adult content. Interesting point, and what goes through Ofcoms mind is anyones guess, but I thibk their line these days is that sex can cause "widespread offence" to adults. The proof of this can be seen in the literally 1s of people who queue to complain. Last week alone there were 0 complaints about adult channels and 10 about Im A Celebrity* Get Me Out Of Here. * Does the Trades Description Act apply? RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 01-12-2011 17:39 I'll tell what causes me widespread offence is the fact we're not allowed to see the pussy on late night entertainment, I'm offended by the fact that a normal part of the female anatomy is not allowed to be shown, I find censorship as a whole offensive, I'm offended that we live in a democracy but are yet subject to dictatorship, I'm offended that non elected qaungo's are allowed to decide for us based on their own personal morals, I'm offended that we live in such a world that shows discrimination to anything that it fails to understand or tolerate, that to be is the biggest crime in what is widespread harm and offence that we have no say in the matter whatsoever RE: Ofcom Discussion - eccles - 01-12-2011 23:13 5000 people complained to the BBC about a Jeremy Clarkson joke. Lets hope Ofcom grown a pair of balls and say "Its obviously a joke, get ober it." If not the BBC will end up apologising to Hitlers descendents for any unintentional offence caused every time Charlie Chaplins Great Dictator is broadcast. RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 01-12-2011 23:30 Eccles it doesn't matter how many thousands complain to Ofcom over the Jeremy Clarkson incident as the BBC are immune to regulation as it is protected by the Government and cannot be fined or have any sanctions put upon it so it's most likely that any complaints will not be withheld , personally speaking I couldn't give a fuck what Clarkson said anyway, it's a free country, rightly or wrongly he has every right to express his opinion's which just for the record I don't agree with but in saying that when I visit the pub I also have discussions with people and hear views such as that similar to Clarksons which I don't agree with neither but I'm not going to go reporting them to the pub landlord either, it's called freedom of speech and that's exactly why we live in a democracy, that's why censorship should be lifted, you have to accept the good and the bad RE: Ofcom Discussion - StanTheMan - 02-12-2011 16:46 Watching a bit of The Wright Show this morning and a rather worrying story pops up for discussion. It was featured in the Daily Star and had the heading 'Porn Before Nine'. I got quite excited and thought it was going to be something to do with Ofcom, but it was just the story of a 10 year-old boy who (it is purported) phoned the PM and asked him to ban the showing of raunchy music videos before 9pm. They didn't really go into the story or what the outcome was. It's beyond ridiculous and to make a story like this up, with the sole purpose of fanning the flames of a situation that is already getting out of hand, plunges new depths of low. The moral brigade will stop at nothing, will they? |
