RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 30-06-2017 04:03 Jurassic World Managed to pick this Blu Ray for 2 quid, picture quality is stunning and highly detailed and rich in colour. The sound quality is 7.1 DTS-HD master and it sounds fantastic on a home cinema system. Extras include deleted scenes, Chris & Colin on the "world", dinosaurs roam once again, welcome to Jurassic Park, Jurassic World: all-access pass, innovation center tour with Chris Pratt. Plus you get a digital copy of the movie. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 30-06-2017 11:48 Recommend Jackie(2017) I got it from B&M Bargains for £10. Pablo Larraín's English language debut see's Natalie Portman in world class form as Jackie Kennedy, grieving in the aftermath of her husband's death. Extras : Audio commentary Making of Photo gallery RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - lancealot790 - 01-07-2017 21:12 Supernatural Seasons 1-9 Managed to find this for the amazingly low price of £14, each season is individually packaged and comes with plenty of extras including deleted scenes, featurettes, and commentaries. Plus it has excellent sound and vision. Another highly recommended boxset. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 10-07-2017 15:10 Highly recommend The Time Machine(1960) I bought it from a Monday market for £8 George Pal's adaptation of H.G Well's book with its famous and innovative time lapse sequences rightly stands out as a masterpiece amongst 1960s b-movies.Riffing intelligently on social politics with a great turn from Rod Taylor.Just a million times better than the diabolically crap 2002 version.Could do with more on the disc though. Extras : An in depth documentary Art cards RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 12-07-2017 09:51 Another essential in my view,The Warriors(1979) Bought the reissued directors cut from Granger Games for £6. With a superb remastered transfer the colours finally look so vivid and the grain removal on the dark scenes works wonders too. Also the awful skin tones from previous vhs/dvd releases are gone and replaced with a proper, natural tone.Sound wise its a remastered 5.1 track that isn't amazing but works fine, all the extras are imported from the 2005 Ultimate Director's Cut DVD and there isn't any new content exclusive to blu ray but, these extras are loaded with great information anyway and are very enjoyable. Extras : Intro from Walter Hill 62 minute documentary Featurettes Theatrical trailer RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Rammyrascal - 13-07-2017 20:22 (25-06-2017 10:45 )rpj316 Wrote: Highly recommend The Lego Batman Movie(2017) I reccomend the HMV exclusive steel book edition of Lego Batman Comes in a really nice steelbook Get 3 versions of the film (3D, 2D & ultraviolet digital copy) & good amount of extras RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 17-07-2017 09:45 Just bought the 3D version of Beauty And The Beast(2017) Only £8 from a Monday market First of all the picture looks absolutely gorgeous on blu ray and tbe 3D adds to the experience as well.Although not as good as La Belle Et La Bête(1946)this is still excellent, combining the charm of the 1991 animated classic without relying on cute creatures, instead Bill Condon makes Belle a feisty, take no shit character which Emma Watson relishes to play.Great work from Dan Stevens also and the effective back story, combined with the surreal fantasy element make this a modern classic. Extras : Featurettes Deleted scenes Extended song Music video RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 20-07-2017 09:11 Highly recommend The Fisher King(1991) Although new to blu ray I bought this from St.Leonard's Hospice for £5. A nice remastered transfer helps this Terry Gilliam effort to almost melt down right of the screen. With a good performance from Robin Williams as deranged professor of history,Jeff Bridges is equally effective as shock jock riddled with guilt, both involved in a plot that spirals out in many directions. Not always on point but the overall design of the film is inspired. Extras : Audio commentary Featuretts Interviews Deleted scenes Costume tests RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 22-07-2017 11:01 Despite it pissing down with rain this morning I went around a local market, not much going to be honest but I did find one bargain for only £4. The In-Laws(1979) An old chalk and cheese comedy with Alan Arkin and Peter Falk, really funny and so easily likable. Extras : Audio commentary Featurettes Booklet RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 22-07-2017 20:21 Conan The Barbarian (2011) Picked it up for £2, the picture abs sound quality are great. There's a whole of extras plus you get a 2D and 3D Blu Ray of the film along with a DVD version. |
