Thr Government has lent £5bn to 160,000 small businesses in THREE DAYS!!

What happens if they want that money back five years later....

I’m sorry but that is not true, because countries like New Zealand (population 4.8 million) who are an island nation like ourselves implemented a lockdown early and only 21 people have died there.

Austerity was over for about 2 minutes, prepare for another decade of cuts in order to get this money back one way or another

Not just cute but some big tax rises aswell, i am far more worried about the lockdown than I am covid as the poverty lockdown will make is going to kill far more people over the next 2 years than covid has , we could end up stuck in a slump like that 1930 that could go on 10 years the longer they keep this lockdown on the more and longer the county will be fucked afterwards

Boris has ruled out more austerity. So you'd better bend over and brace yourself for the taxman Wink

the taxman always has bloody stiff stick Tongue

Cases rise by 346 I get the feeling that I don't think the lockdown will ease tomorrow but think a second peak is more likely when you consider the flights coming into the country and I get the feeling also that some of those have arrived got through the airport without being tested and are possibly carrying the virus and have melted into the community and can't be traced. Why we never closed airports except to returning UK citizens at the start is beyond me.

14 day quarantine for those arriving from overseas was mentioned in today's briefings.
Shouldn't this have been done in February when the virus hit Italy hard ?
We need a proactive Government, ours is far too reactive.

I totally agree the government should ha ve been far more proactive and should have gone into lockdown a lot sooner than it did. Grant Shapps delivered the usual waffle today and wants more cyclists and people walking to work. I can walk to work but bloody hell, how many are going to cycle what the UK average of 9 miles every day to work? I get the feeling the UK transport system is on the brink of collapse the way it has been operating the last few weeks

I have never heard such bollocks as everyone can now cycle to work, I live 11 miles from work some times I will do it on the bike when a nice day but it takes me 1 hour a bit more coming home as it's more uphill as apposed to 20-30mins in the car , it's fine being on the bike for an hour on a nice sunny summer day but it's not something I want to do in the winter when it's freezing cold and pissing down with heavy rain,
And just what are the millions of people who live in the 1 hour commuting belt around our big cities going to do not so easy if you live in Swindon and work in London to hold on your bike , sounds like taking rubbish hoping it buy them time before winter when I would guess they are hoping the 2m rule is not needed and lots more people can get on the trains and buses,
