At least we have a winner and runner up in the Mixed Competition. Jamie Murray and Heather Watson. It's a shame that they didn't pair off together.

I see Sharapova has been given a wild card into US Open.

Nadal has overtaken Murray as World Number 1

RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Doddle - 17-08-2017 13:55

I see Nishikori has joined Djokovic and Wawrinka in having to take time off, and with Federer and Murray among the walking wounded, it looks like a clear field for Nadal and anyone with a racquet who can stand up long enough Tongue

Yeah should be a real chance for one of the outside contenders to make the final. Especially as there's doubts over Cilic's fitness aswell.

If they can avoid each other in the two halves of the draw, and assuming Nadal makes the final, Dimitrov could be worth a bet to join him. The Bulgarian is in great form reaching the Cincinnatti masters final and is well overdue a slam final.

As for other contenders - Querrey showed his prowess at Wimbledon and Kyrgios, if he can keep his head together, has a shot.

Probably about time someone from outside the Big Four made their name in these slams.
