I watched the Sharapova win and to be honest, I'm not that surprised she beat Halep, whose mental strength has been called in to question many times. Fair play to the Romanian, on this occasion she fought and took it to a deciding set, but the fact is her game doesn't match up well against Sharapova's power. With last night's win the Russian now leads the head to head 7-0.
Big disappointment for Johanna Konta though. I genuinely thought she was a contender to make the final. Well how the heck did that one go wrong?! Very disappointing performance.

Kyle Edmund the only Brit player left in the singles competitions after Norrie and Bedene both lost.
I see Caroline Wozniacki is not pleased that Maria Sharapova has played both her matches on Arthur Ashe while she was 5th on Court 5 and lost to Marakova
