They wouldn't have their passage blocked if they were good enough to play in the best league in the world The best league in the world? You were probably joking about that, but let's say for arguments sake, it's one of the strongest leagues in Europe. I could agree with that statement. It has no right to be. If the national team is average at best, then the Premier League should be too. Having a strong league is encouraging a warped perception of English football, that it is somehow of a reasonable standard. And it isn't. But the Premier League clubs don't care. They'll just buy instant success, rather than plan for sustained success. And their idiotic fans won't care either because they'll be able to maintain bragging rights over their equally idiotic rival club fans. They'll just keep paying the inflated prices, buying the shirts, subscribing to Sky Sports... unaware that their clubs are getting further and further out of their reach, and sailing their national team down the river, in favour of the 'Premier League brand'. As for 'they wouldn't have their passage blocked if they were good enough'. Right you are! But is it always blocked by a world class international footballer? Or is it a case of: There's this 17 year old local lad, looks like he will become quite a player. Any room for him in the squad? .... There would be, but the chairman just forked out six figures on a 30 year old Honduran left-back... Success today... Fvck tomorrow... And I get why, football supporters in this country are by and large, not that bright. A couple of defeats on the bounce and there are calls for managers to be sacked left right and centre. Why would you risk a 17 year old player in this climate? This is the culture we've created for ourselves. The national team is at crisis point. But it's ok... we have 'The Best League in the World...' ... RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - Fernandez Esperenda - 20-06-2014 22:30 How is your national team in a crisis? When was the last time it won anything? 1966? if that is the case England have been in crisis for 48 years You're not in a crisis, your just not as good as you think you are and your expectations are far too high.. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - hugh_g_rection - 20-06-2014 22:37 When a football team can't string 3 passes together = crisis What expectations did I have? Are you talking shit again? |
