My all time fave game though hasn't been mentioned. I absolutely loved the ULTIMA series (I think it was Ultima 8 that was my all-time fave). I notice no-one has named any RPG's (other than Diablo which some say is and some say isn't a true RPG).
Reading this thread has brought back some good memories of the thousands of hours I must have spent playing games - from the original ZX 80 (wasn't a Commodore fan) right through to the PC and PS2 (ot really into consoles either) - thanks for starting this thread
Utima Underworld was my favourite of that series. I've got a rom for playing it on DOSbox, but it runs poorly
A pity, because old fashioned dungeon based games are amongst my favourites from my teenaged years. Did anyone else play Stonekeep? That was an odd game, but fun.

mine would be streets of rage 2 from my first ever console, the sega mega drive (i honestly don't remember what i done before i got it, i weren't much of a reader, especially at age 5, and i don't really remember any toys that i played with)... anyway, yeah, i'm saying if i had to play only one game for the rest of my life, i'd say streets of rage 2, you?

I'm more into a series of games then one off game titles and heres a few i've enjoyed.
The Streets of Rage series, The first was good, The second was an improvement and the third although not as good as the second in my opinion was a must for any fans of the series.
Another game series i enjoyed as a kid was the Golden Axe series, Similar to Streets of Rage so i guess that was the reason i liked it so much.
Fallout game series, Played them all from Fallout 1 to the latest adaptation New Vegas, Enjoyed them all.
Edler Scrolls, Great games from Bethesda and the latest one due out later this year looks great and i'll be in line to pick mine up.
Mass Effect is turning out to be a great trilogy and having played the first two games for hours on end i can say i'm far from disappointed, I highly recommend to anyone.

Well my favorites have to be:
The Elder Scrolls Games.
Baulders Gate, Plus expansions.
Neverwinter Nights, Plus expansions.
Fallout 3 & New Vegas.
Elite. (Space trading game).
But my all time favourite - Cannonfodder.
