Prehaps Off-Topic
But a huge well done to New Zealand holding Italy to a 1-1 draw.

Okay NZ 's goal was maybe offside but that was a dubious penalty..plus the ref didnt do them any favours

Congrats to New Zealand Smile

Actually NZ's goal wasn't offside, the final touch into Smeltz path came off an Italian defender. The free kick was played into the box, the defender then headed the ball and Smeltz picked up the pieces. Smile

Regenerated's statement is untrue.

The camera behind the goal gives the best view of this incident. It clearly shows that Giorgio Chiellini jumped for the ball but it passed over his head and was then touched on by Winston Reid. It's possible to stop the video at the point of contact, to get a view of the ball actually in contact with Reid's head, proving conclusively that he touched it.

The Fabmeister has told the BBC that Matthew Upson will play on Wednesday. Hmm. "And probably I will change some players."

why upson ?!?! he is by a country mile the most overrated defender england has used in years. why not use dawson as he may be one of our future regular centerbacks ? i wonder if capello will give a fully fit milner a proper chance now instead of lennon. but he absolutely MUST select crouch instead of heskey- even if it's just for the aerial threat, 'cause as we know 1-0 will do

The choice of Upson seems to be down to the fact that he tended to be the replacement during the qualifiers if Terry or Ferdinand were out, but I've never thought much of him personally. Then again I'm not a huge fan of Dawson either and he has no experience at international level. It's a knotty one all right. How about Joe Cole at centre half?!

i still think gary cahill should've been selected. teaches capello a lesson though for taking a barely ever fit ledley king and the slowest man alive- carragher.

Didnt Capello say before the World Cup that he would only take
1 Players who were (fully) fit
2 Players who were playing regularly
3 Players who were in form

Anyway fingers crossed for Wednesday, then if succesful the worrying starts again. Rolleyes

I say this as a Bolton fan but I don't think Cahill is international class either. Sadly, we're short of depth at centre half and when you get so many unavailable for various reasons you're going to struggle. Anyway, if we can change the habit of a lifetime and actually keep the ball for a reasonable amount of time maybe we won't need top class defenders on Weds.
