RE: USPGA - Doddle - 17-05-2024 21:36

Scheffler bounced back to shoot 66. Morikawa doing well today.

RE: USPGA - Doddle - 18-05-2024 14:14

Schauffele remained top at the halfway point. McIlroy fell off the pace a bit.

RE: USPGA - Snooks - 18-05-2024 19:07

Justin Rose is going ballistic so far in round three Surprised. Can he keep it up?

Shane Lowry is matching him eek. Can he keep it up?

RE: USPGA - Snooks - 18-05-2024 20:15

Rory is at it as well now Surprised.

WTF eek

RE: USPGA - Snooks - 18-05-2024 22:14

Lowry shot a record equalling 62 to move to -13 while Rose went round in 64 to reach -12. McIlroy has fallen off the pace and Scheffler has done likewise. There are a gaggle of players within close striking distance of the lead at the moment.

RE: USPGA - Doddle - 19-05-2024 13:35

Rose might be in with a shout, but beyond that, probably not.

RE: USPGA - Snooks - 19-05-2024 13:49

It has the potential to be a sensational final round with so many players in with a shout.

RE: USPGA - Snooks - 20-05-2024 00:31

In the end Xander Schauffle went wire to wire and finished with a winning score of -21 which is a major championship record.
De Chambeau pushed hardest in setting a clubhouse target of -20 but Schauffle overhauled it with birdie on the final hole.
Viktor Hovland was in contention for a long stretch but his challenge petered out late on. The challenge from Lowry and Rose never materialised as they were not able to sustain forward momentum.

One of the better majors in a long while though with so many in contention heading into round four.

Well done to Schauffele, leading from the start, and a top 10 very much US v Europe.

A richly deserved win for Schauffele, under pressure trying to get over the line for his first major win, & a -6 score is impressive given the circumstances. The degree of difficulty of the approach shot should not be overlooked. Stood in a fairway bunker with the ball above your feet is a tough shot even for these high class players, add to that what was at stake, made it all the more impressive. I've attempted similar shots, given my average ability, I've had varied success, just full of admiration for the skill to pull off a high tariff shot in that moment.
Zander possess a good all round game, maybe only his putting is questionable at times, but now he's broken through, I expect he will feature high on the leaderboards of the majors for many years to come.
An absorbing tournament throughout, with a stella leaderboard on Sunday with a great mix of familiar names & one or too less so. A top 8 finish for Bob MacIntyre should give him the belief that he belongs at this level. Crowd favourite Theegala is a real star of the future.
