My condolences to the families that lost loved ones. The guy behind the shootings appears to be completely insane. It seems he was inspired to some degree by the Batman films particularly the last one with the joker with images of the gunman dying his hair like the joker and he claims to even booby trapping his apartment just like in the film when the joker booby trapped the hospital. I read some witness accounts that at first they thought it was part of the film, but then he started shooting. I think America needs to change the second amendment in its constitution or even get rid of it or there will be more shootings in the future

The guy bought 4 guns and 6,000 rounds of ammunition in the past few weeks. One of which was an assault rifle. As long as the public are allowed to purchase firearms in the USA as it stands, incidents like this will continue. Cant see how any country can justify the need for the public to own assault rifles under any circumstances. The USA constitution was drawn up many, many years ago, it's long overdue a revamp.

Exactly, its 2012 not 1776. There appears to be some people in America, who want everything to go by the constitution and that nothing can be changed in the constitution. The everyday lives of people in America has changed over the years since 9/11 which has brought tighter security. This tighter security was brought in to defend against foreign terrorists notably Al Qaeda. But now in the last few years there have been a lot of lone wolfs causing various tragic shootings. It is shocking that any person in America can legally buy that weaponry without being said or done by the authorities, America must change its gun control laws as soon as possible. I read an article on CNN that the Australian system of gun control is the way to go and there have been no shooting situation in Australia since 1996 that shows that the level of gun violence in Australia has been reduced

Nearly two-thirds of the US Constitution's signatories had legal training, but that didn't stop lawyers with the original suspicion of federal control versus that of the state from instigating the Bill of Rights. Between those two bits of paper are holes that all sides could drive a coach and horses through, which has always spelt good news for theirs and their successors' practices. It may yet come, but no incident has yet perusaded the fifty states that they should end "the right of the people" as those who quote the Second Amendment like to remind us - and the federal government wouldn't dare. The economics of America's gun sales and the associated lobbying is one reason; worth $31 billion last year.

We have our own economics to worry about though. Because we do care and react when the crazies abuse guns, we've spent £36 million on the Olympics shooting venue but must then spend about a quarter of that again in demolishing it. It can't even be kept for legal guns to shoot on but we'll honour our commitment to sustainability by putting a few of the ranges into cold storage until the Commonwealth Games of 2014Huh
