New Zealand could bring in Vettori to replace the injured spinner Bruce Martin.

Vettori could provide added strength to the NZ batting too.

Especially the way we bat against spin ian bell very vunerable to spinners that have a bit of mystery, also can anybody tell me what bairstow brings to the team? He is young and has good potential so should be learning his trade in county cricket and not in the test arena as his test stats prove he isnt ready.
Overplaying youngsters too early will slow there progress just look at bopara lol.

Bairstow replaced KP last year for the 3rd Test against South Africa with the best bowling attack in the world, top scored with 95 & made 54 in the 2nd innings.
He hasn't had a run in the side yet, having seen match winning knocks for Yorkshire in Championship matches I have no doubt that he is the real deal.
He will lose his place when KP returns, but I woold move Root up to open & drop Compton who has done nothing wrong but Bairstow has the X-factor to chance matches & is more than ready now.

He has potential, but in my opinion it is far too early to play him so much his current test average 25 according to wikipedia suggests this.
Where you are right he has the x factor to change matches he is not consistent enough to do so enough on a frequent basis, and I would rather see taylor replace pieterson at this moment

But thats just my opinion Smile

Sorry for the shoddy grammar but typing on a mobile is tricky sometimes lol

Also root to open I very much agree there, though I fell comptom's form in New Zealand will make him favourite to open in the ashes regardless what happens in between

A Test average doesn't mean that much untill mabe 20 plus matches & depends who you've played.

If your winning you can carry maybe one player & let them develop,Steve Waugh had a poor average at the start & took a while to bag his first ton,but ended up with an average of around 50 & captained the side.

Taylor, would not let them down,a class act,but had a poor season last year,he will come again.

bopara is like rampakash and hick excellent county batsmen but at test level seem not to able to perform and have the mental strength to do so just like andy cole in football, top class premier league striker found wanting at interntional level.

the only player i would drop is bell and bring in another bowler.

if england batsmen dont stat to find form soon then they will be in trouble come the ashes. there are one or two aussie bowlers over here performing brilliantly in the county championship, trent copeland at northants has been wickets left, right and centre after the first games where he failed to take wicket and his econmy rate was mcgrath like 2/3 an over.

the 170 run victory will be used to hide an awful of cracks in the england side. board had one of those days which every bowler dreams of having.

New Zealand have decided not to bring back Vettori & will have a 4 man pace attack with Bracewell coming in for Martin & Williamson's back up spin.McCullum will keep wicket with Guptill replacing Watling.

Root has been bowling a lot of his off-spin in the net which would also give them the option of a 4 man pace attack with the addition of Bresnan.Swann wasn't required much at Lords on a pitch that did turn. There wont be much help for him at Leeds, but with the weather set to improve after a mixed forcast for today,he may be required to have a long bowl if any batsmen get in on what has been a good batting track again this year.
