I fell asleep last night listening to TMS in bed. I woke to an apoplectic Geoffrey Boycott so didn't need to be told the score to know that something had gone seriously wrong!

England's last 5 totals in the first innings of an away series:

192 vs. Pakistan at Dubai (England tour of UAE, 2011-12)
193 vs. Sri Lanka at Galle (England tour of Sri Lanka, 2011-12)
191 vs. India at Ahmedabad (England tour of India, 2012-13)
167 vs. New Zealand at Dunedin (England tour of New Zealand, 2012-13)
136 vs. Australia at Brisbane (England tour of Australia, 2013-14)

Boycott on text commentary :

"England have an 82-page booklet on what to eat but one guy comes in and bowls at 90mph and they can't handle it."

In fairness though unlike like in Boycott's day their are not many, if any, other bowlers that speed that are around at the moment so they don't the batsmen don't get much of a chance to play them.

I certainly didnt see this shock/horror show coming today
The Aussies though appear to have Cook worked out on how to dismiss him.
The one that baffled me though today was Prior, first ball, playing exactly the same shot that Bell did to get out, to the WORST spinner in Test cricketannoyed

The Aussies appear to have worked out how to dismiss Trott as well.

Yep that confirms my point in an earlier post.
And this time England do not have the comfort of a dead track with no life in it like they had in most of the home series in England with the exception of Old Trafford.
Australia are gunning for England batsmen with raw pace and if I were Clarke
I would instruct every groundsman for future tests to make the pitches full of pace and bounce. I fear this may not be the last of the England collapses in this series.
Weaknesses that I saw in the Old Trafford match have imo been further ruthlessly exposed again in Brisbane overnight.
I always said this series would be decided by which top 6 performed best and I stand by that. Cook and co need to shape up and quickly.

If you want to watch the highlights of the Ashes they will be on Pick TV Freeview Channel 11 and Sky Channel 151(152 +1?) at 10pm every day for every Ashes test.

It was shocking how easily England went from 82-2 to 91-8

England will get used to the bounce soon enough. I'm more concerned at how they managed to lose 2 wickets to innocuous balls from Nathan Lyon.
