OK fair comment, but give Burnley some credit, rather than trying to argue that Man Utd gave them the points.

I do give burnley the credit but also feel that Ferguson did not put out the best team availible. Burnley played well. Ferguson was complacent because before that he had 100%record against newly promoted teams.

I'm not sure where you get these facts from, but that's definitely not true. Wolves alone have twice beaten Man Utd under Ferguson when they were a newly promoted team.

The last 4 victories by promoted sides over the reigning champions have all been against Man Utd.

the times thusday august 20 2009 pg 68
I quote"United had won their previous 17 league matches against newly promoted opposition, a statistic that Coyle had been aghast to discover when it flashed up on a television screen in the nervous minutes before kick off"
I should have said 100% record in last 17 that was what I meant but left out so my apolagies.

Firstly, gotta say a big thanks to Villa Big Grin
Secondly, i was really, really, really surprised at this result for many reasons
1. Liverpool have already lost this season and you rarely see any of the big four losing 2 matches in a week as big teams tend to learn from their mistakes etc.
2. It was at Anfield, and even though they were pretty poor there last season, theyve been undefeated at Anfield in the league since December 2007 i think
3. Gerrard and Torres both started, Liverpool were undeafeted last season when both were fit (even though they both played against Spurs last week)
4. I am not expecting anything from Villa this season tbh, theyve lost IMO their two most important players in Barry and unfortunately Laursen and i think they would be lucky to finish in the top 6
5. There are a coupla more reasons but i cba Smile

Well chuffed with the performance last night Big Grin

I still think we need about 3 or 4 new signings though to give us a hope of getting into the top 4 !!!!

If at least one other side doesn't crack the top four this season then it'll never happen. Liverpool look certain to lose at least five which should open the door - they may have lost three by this weekend. Gerrard to Man city in january wouldn't surprise me.
