RE: Man Utd to win all 5 trophies (NOT!!) - mas0887 - 26-04-2009 00:47 Capitalise on ref decisions? Yeah that is the whole point of football, wait no, that is not the point in any way, the man with the whistle is NOT supposed to play a major part in the way the game pans out. It did not seem like Man U were in the game at all before that c unty decision, so not only is it now MUCH harder for us to try to get the last Europa spot, the ref basically just gave Man U the title. I know the refs are always biased to Man U at Old Trafford (ask anybody who isn't blinded by Man U fanboyism) but today was just fucking ludicrous. Also there was the goal that barely went over the line, and I am not saying it didn't go over the line, it did, just. But from where the linesman was standing he could not of seen clearly if it had or not because Woodgate had his body in the way trying to keep it out, so maybe the officials got their wheels greased at half time if you know what I am saying.... RE: Man Utd to win all 5 trophies (NOT!!) - Fidster69 - 26-04-2009 00:54 true there may be fans who are 'blinded', but people can be equally as blind when their heads are filled with conspiracy theories.....if such was the case that 'all' referees were so biased towards Utd, then why didn't a self proclaimed Utd fan of a referee give the penalty in the FA Cup Semi-Final? Because Moyes had publicly 'outed' him as a man u fan, if he had give the pen it would have confirmed it.....at least to the conspiracy theorists it would have RE: Man Utd to win all 5 trophies (NOT!!) - Fidster69 - 26-04-2009 02:57 then its a no win situation, and I think Moyles knew it when he let the cat out of the bag, as it were RE: Man Utd to win all 5 trophies (NOT!!) - Bunna - 26-04-2009 11:22 The owners of an Indian IPL cricket club have emerged as the latest suitors to buy into Liverpool. Leading members of the Indian-based GMR group, which is owned by Grandhi Mallikarjun Rao, were in Merseyside this week. They sat alongside the American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett in the Anfield directors' box for the 4-4 draw with Arsenal. The GMR group run the Delhi Daredevils IPL side but are believed to be looking to expand. The Indians running the cowboys out of town.......thats a nice refreshing change RE: Man Utd to win all 5 trophies (NOT!!) - Paddyfrank - 26-04-2009 16:52 Fidster69 Wrote:jeez.....its a just a game where 22 men kick the insides of a cow about a rectangular bit of grass..... FOOTBALL IS NOT A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH IT'S MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT Sure, the penalty decision was very harsh, but you play to the conditions/situations in which you find yourself. What did you expect Ronaldo to do, put the ball wide simply because the penalty was not justified? Refs have a very hard job ( and i'm in no way defending Webb's decision) and are afterall only human, prone to making mistakes and being intimidated into decisions by the atmosphere of the situation. 90% of the time home teams have a slight advantage concerning ref's decisions. When playing at thier best UTD destroyed Spurs who seemed to lose all thier drive after half-time. A team as gifted as Man U do not need the help that Howard Webb gave them with the penalty decision! I doubt we would have won the match anyway because the changes made by Ferguson turned the game although without the penalty decision we may have had a chance to adapt to it before the 4 goal onslaught.I am mostly amazed at the way Ferguson set his side out in the first half after seeing the trouble Lennon caused him in the cup! That flattered our performance a little but with a few more 'ifs and buts' we may have made a game of it.Anyway,it's been 24 hours now and I've calmed down enough to write what I think is a fair post! My Dad is an Everton fan so quite enjoyed the result and it's league title significance! Dreamlander RE: Man Utd to win all 5 trophies (NOT!!) - G@Z! - 26-04-2009 17:11 ok they gotta do something to stop bad referee decisions maybe try what all the other sports are going and have video referees that they can use for help or we can stick to the good old ways and blame the referee for everything that seems to work RE: Man Utd to win all 5 trophies (NOT!!) - Fidster69 - 26-04-2009 19:02 that's something I've said before...with the digital age, and the fact that Rugby and American Football and Tennis also incorporate instant replay refereeing, surely Soccer/Football should start incorporating it too....like I suggested...it would be up to the Manager to challenge the decision to award/not to award a free kick/penalty...and if they get it wrong they lose one of their 3 substitutions, if they get it right they keep their substitution tally....and in the process it might get rid of the mentality of 'playing for the foul' if instant replays catch players out more and cards given as a consequence |
