It plays into the hands of the venal and corrupt to suggest that all would be right with the world if Blatter were gone.

Football is too big and FIFA is too rich and powerful for this to be all about one man. The rot must go so much deeper than that.

Blatter stays, Blatter goes. So what? The issue is not Blatter. The issue is FIFA. It needs root-and-branch reform. Admittedly, this starts with the president. But the single-minded obsession with Blatter worries me.

My concern is that he takes, say, 6 months to cover his tracks and then resigns. Woo Hoo ... the world rejoices. And under the cover of that joy some other snake just takes his place.

We need to stop personalizing this with the convenient devil that is Blatter and start dealing with the broader Hell that is FIFA.
I think we have to admit that all this has gone while on Blatter's watch and he needs to realise that he tuned a blind eye to what was actually going on for way too long
II think the FBI investigation will eventually drag Blatter down too far to stay on as president because at some point the FBI will come looking for him. not only that there is the possibility of UEFA losing a prestigious guaranteed place in the World Cup and that would be bad news for England given the current rankings and that would mean if seeding is the same as as before, England could find themselves in a group with possibly Germany which would not make Roy happy and England would then have to fight for one of just SIX places in the play - offs and tthere would be an extra place given to one of the other Confederations at UEFA's expense.

Gregg Dyke has said the England will not pull out of any competitions - unless EUFA pull out

RE: FIFA - HannahsPet - 30-05-2015 07:54

Its quite right England or the home nations pulling out will do fuck all as we are are as welcome as small pox at fifa

and so it begins blames the english media and the US sour grapes for not getting 2022 for the charges

Not until the end of the group stage anyway.

Well well well seems the French FA Representitive voted for Blatter because they got the Womens World Cup in 2019

I agree with this. I think Blatter will just carry on as normal, as though nothing has happened.

He thinks any threats from UEFA will come to nothing. Maybe he's right.

Bit satire there for a Friday night. Basically, Phonebook is saying that Scotland's absence from the World Cup was a protest, and not just cos we're crap.

Thanks now, goodnight everyone.

Your catching up i joked about scotland yesterday afternoon Big LaughBig LaughBig Laugh

Very good point.

Blatter has said that all countries outside Asia can bid for the 2026 World Cup. Asian countries can't bid because Qatar have the 2022 competition.

Blatter's being given a rough time at the press conference

RE: FIFA - HannahsPet - 30-05-2015 13:09

Wow If what greg dyke has just said on Sky Sports news is true then seems that most of Latin America voted against blatter as well as europe

RE: FIFA - lovebabes56 - 30-05-2015 15:54

I'd love to see the actual vote count who voted how and all that But I doubt any Latin American teams would really stand together with UEFA we would nee more than half of Federations around the world to be certain of any kind of breakaway unit being a success Sometimes I think Blatter is like Count Dracula!!
